The Kelvin was supposedly in the original timeline/alternate reality yet it looked nothing like a TOS ship. It would have been better, and more convincing, if the Kelvin, especially the interiors and the uniforms, had been TOS style.

Why? It takes place almost 30 years before TOS. The ship and the uniforms in The Cage (13 years before TOS) and WNMHGB ( 1 to 2 years before TOS?) didn't look the same either.

The Enterprise, inside and out, looked very much the same. Yes, there were minor differences on the bridge, etc., but overall it was the same. I just thought it would have been more realistic, and acceptable to canon-mongers, if the Kelvin had looked more TOS-ish
What would make it "more TOS-ish" ? Its not like every ship will look exactly like the Enterprise. Why? It takes place almost 30 years before TOS. The ship and the uniforms in The Cage (13 years before TOS) and WNMHGB ( 1 to 2 years before TOS?) didn't look the same either.

What he said!I think the Kelvin uniforms were meant to be in between the TOS and ENT uniforms. Their design is a lot like the TOS uniforms, but they're all blue like the ENT uniforms.

More TOS set design style I guess. That minimalist primary colors look. It was just a thought. But did anyone catch what looked like a wet floor when Kirks mom was being hustled to the shuttle? Reminded me of the 'rain' on the Nostromo in Alien.

R U serious. Why would you want a ship design to look like it was made in the 60's. Why do you think the original series looked the way it did. Because that was what they had.
I think the kelvin was a little off without nacelles, but it worked for me.
The way i like to think of it is this. Remember how Old Spock arrived 25 years later because he fell into the black hole a few seconds after the Narada? Well presumably debris from destruction caused by the Supernova went through the black hole too.
So i just assumed some rocks went through first, arrived 25 years before Nero and happened to hit Starfleet Chief of R&D Commodore C. Violation on the head, killing him instantly.
His replacement, Captain S. Pandex favoured a different approach to Starship and uniform design than his predecessor.

This is pre TOS:
