Terminator Terminated

yet the dollhouse looks like it might be renewed? Did we really need more proof that shit floats?

Is the series going to get a proper wrap-up? Will we at least find out if Judgment Day was averted in this timeline?

Josh Friedman has said there will be no continuation of this timeline. There will be no D2DVD film, no move to CW as rumored, no novel follow up.

Does the show have any kind of ending? Not a wrap-up or even a cliffhanger?
The series ended on a cliffhanger.

John Connor has been transported to a future where he is not leading the human Resistance. Cameron has been destroyed. Skynet is online and active in 2009.

I really wish producers wouldn't end seasons on cliffhangers when they know there's a strong chance the show won't be renewed.
They thought what many people thought: the movie would save them for another season.

Bit more information:

Apparently this was expected for another reason too: MGM is trying to reacquire the rights to the Terminator Franchise from Warner Brothers and it looks like they're going to be given them.

This surprises me. Even though I bailed on the show in earlier this season, I thought Fox would at least give it a half season order to see if viewership would pick up since T4 is coming out this summer.

That being said, I wonder if that'll have any impact on T4. For example, people thinking that since the TV show was just canned, the movie probably sucks, so they'll pass on it. Then again, probably not as most people are probably not even aware there was a TV show in the first place.

I am sorry for its fans. But this series was ill-conceived from the beginning.

Also the timing was horrible. If Terminator Salvation is a success would it not have made sense to then launch a tv series within a year or so. The new film will test and perhaps establish whether the franchise will succeed without Arnold. It was much harder for a tv series to do that first.

I doubt the show will have any effect on the movie. Or would have effected its ratings much if it continued. Each are too disconnected from the other.

Many people, unless they watched the show, don't know that. What's really bad overseas is that the show is being promoted as the direct prequel to the new film, which will add to the overseas confusion.

Sad but not entirely surprising. TSCC had what many series never get these days--a second season--and quite thoroughly blew it with snail-like pacing, irrelevant plots and the bare minimum of character interaction they could get away with.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

This is why I don't like getting into new shows. They are all cancelled before coming to a proper conclusion. If Fox wanted to can it that's fine. Just don't leave the ending up in the air like that. Damnit.

To all the network execs/minions reading this: Wondering why you can't get any new shows off the ground? It's because you're pissing off your viewers with stunts like this.

That is exactly the right word - CONFUSION. I bet any market research Fox has done on public perceptions of the show has shown this. Its impossible to build an audience for a show when people are confused about what its really about.

Actually the show did have high viewership ratings in DVR and online viewing (counting them the show had just shy of 7 million viewers); they just didn't take them into account this time.

I haven't watched the show or anthing but I'm curious as to why there cannot be a novel follow up. Seems a bit weird to me.

Hubby loved this show, but I found it a bit tedious. It's really no surprise to me that it got cancelled.
