Star Trek - $43M 2nd Weekend - Domestic $148M - Global at $218 M

Re: Star Trek - $43M 2nd Weekend - Domestic $148M - Global Nears $200M

between $15-18 Mil during this week.

we made 19 mil for the week just gone so I don't see us hitting 18. 10-14 I think is more likely but still good.

Nice, congrats, nice!

Meh I love the NEW STAR TREK :bolian:

Re: 42 Million 2nd Weekend Take!

Gee, just think what it would be grossing if all the old Trek fans weren't boycotting it. ;)

The old Trek fans aren't boycotting the movie. They're seeing it two or three times so that they can correctly identify all the minutiae that irritate them.

Oh, so those were the ruffled people I saw in the theater shaking their heads, sighing, and frantically typing notes into their Blackberries.

Box Office Mojo has picked up the $43 million estimate on there website...international numbers takes us past $200 million easy but I wonder how much they will bring in since A&D has made over $150 million in oversea's.

I think ST will be at 70 million minimum worldwide on course to beat 100 million still.

Angels & Demons opened to $104 million overseas and $150 million worldwide.

^ I think we will drop more because of T-4 and NaTm 2 but I've lowballed ST IMO so worst case 20 million+, it would not surprise me one bit because of the 4 day weekend we could break 30 million but I think we will get 10 mil+ this mon-thur so it might take a few mil off the weekend total.

Anything above 30 million next weekend and we have a wonderful chance of reaching 250.
I don't disagree. I don't think we will make more than 20 million next weekend because of Terminator alone. I just don't see how NATM2 will do that well.

EW just picked up the $43 million estimate too.

ah 150 worldwide, still impressive but Star Trek is set to rule the UX Box office for a few weeks anyway ;)

I think T-4 will make 85-95 million in its OW and the only film that will have a 100 million+ OW is Transformers. depending on WoM it will be either T-4 or ST that will finish the year as 3rd highest grossing movie on 2009 at the US Box Office...(behind Trans & Harry).

Re: Star Trek - $43M 2nd Weekend - Domestic $148M - Global Nears $200M

Looking at the top 10 films of 2009, I highly suspect that Trek will leap into the #2 spot by Thursday. How long it will stay at #2 may be another story, with T4 coming out.

Re: Star Trek - $43M 2nd Weekend - Domestic $148M - Global Nears $200M

The $148 Million U.S. and $50 Million Foriegn is certainly good, but that's a 75%-25% split. I think they are hoping for a 65/35 or even a 60/40 split (and that still may be accomplished by the end of the summer).

Do you mean $85-95 million for the 3-day or for the long weekend? I think T4 will make over $100 million over the long weekend, but not for the 3-day weekend.

Transformers 2 is opening on a Wednesday, so I'm not sure it'll score $100 million in its 3-day weekend either. But it'll have a monster first five days.

This weekend's international numbers aren't in yet, so the international side will pick up a bit once they're in.

The numbers are distorted however because Star Trek has not been released in all markets.

T-4 opening on thurs or friday ?

Transformer won't make 100 mill in OW since so man peole will see it wed n thurs but it 5 days total will be huge

Re: Star Trek - $42M 2nd Weekend - Domestic $147M - Global Nears $200M

I guess I was wrong about Trek being #1 on Sunday...it was #1 on Saturday.

A&D
Friday: $16.6
Saturday: $17.8
Sunday: $13.6
TOTAL: $48 million

Trek
Friday: $11.8
Saturday: $18.3 (+55.5%)
Sunday: $12.9 (-29.6%)
TOTAL: $43 million

NO FREAKIN WAY!
Way. I was at the 10 PM show on Thursday night and the large theater I was in was 1/4 full. I could easily see a crowd of people on a weekend showing.

Re: Star Trek - $43M 2nd Weekend - Domestic $148M - Global Nears $200M

When a theater is one-quarter or even one-third full on the worst business night of the week for most cineplexes, that's a sign TREK is kicking ass.

Re: Star Trek - $43M 2nd Weekend - Domestic $148M - Global Nears $200M

Well, I will consider this good news all around for Trek, especially after the dismal box-office returns for the last couple of films in the franchise. I'm a little surprised to see that Angels & Demons did so well, but it just goes to show you how unpredictable the box office game can be.
