Original cast must be somewhat jealous...
The one thing that blew me away most about this movie is how much care was taken to give each of the main characters a semi-important role in the movie.. Something the old movies did a pretty horrible job of doing beyond the Kirk, Spock, Mccoy triangle.
My god I mean Uhura literally didn't even MOVE out of her chair in Wrath of Khan- there was absolutely no need to even have her character in the movie.
In III, she was practically written out altogether minus her "get in the closet" moment. The Voyage Home was really the only one that allowed each character to contribute to the story in a semi-thoughtful way.
The new film, not only allows each of the original characters to be fleshed out and given something to do, but the writers managed to add in Pike and give him a worthwhile part of the story.
This just shows you to accept crappy writing in movies like this is totally unacceptable and lazy on apart of whoever is writing the film.
Regardless of how shaky Abrams early drafts were for Superman, seeing how well he managed to flesh out Trek with other writers leads me to believe he could bring new life to Superman.
Nuff said.
^^^ Jealous of what exactly? All the characters we have known have changed. Spock and Uhura are not acting in accordance to their original characters, kissing on the transporter!?! What about Spock abandoning Kirk on the frozen planet Delta Vega? This movie was ridiculous, the villan was ridiculous, the time travel story was ridiculous, Kirk meeting old Spock was ridiculous. Vulcan being destroyed was also ridiculous. McCoy had but two scenes that lasted a few minutes each. This movie is only Star Trek by name, none of the time did I feel any connection with the characters on the screen as they were severely alterted from their originals.
