I get the feeling that if he went to a convention...and one of us presented him with a homemade "Badass Robau" t-shirt...he'd love it. He seems pretty down to earth.

Mmmmmm. Judging by this thread http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=76045

it's racist. Looks like a duck, quacks like a duck. The sombreros are a reference to Robau looking like a Mexican. :vulcan:

Even if they were, which I doubt, it's still not racist. The meaning of racist (as used by people -- not the dictionary meaning) has very negative connotations. Our use of the sombrero has not; on the contrary. Are you trying to see something that isn't there?

Except that the sombrero joke has nothing to do with the Robau joke - that's just two separate jokes joining up.

Some people are just too damn hypersensitive and see things that are not there.

Robau is the man because he didn't say the stardate with a "point" in the middle. "What is the current stardate?" "Stardate? 2233 zero 4. Where are you from?" No point zero 4. Robau is the man.

That and he saved his crew (mostly) by sacrificing himself and was more heroic than Kirk in this film. He looked that Romulan douche in the eye and was defiant.

I want a series with him as the lead. USS Kelvin and her crew are the bomb.

Not only that, but he seems to be quite articulate and well-mannered. A articulate and well-mannered badass. You don't see that everyday.

No. The sombreros have nothing whatever to do with Robau.

Both have long-running threads in this forum, but they are not directly related.

And if you look at the Blue Warp Nacelles thread, you will quickly see that the Sombreros don't have anything to do with ANY actor - Hispanic or otherwise.

What it boils down to is a bunch of people getting goofy while waiting around for this movie for several months.

Not in the least bit racist.

Indeed it was a delectable combination.

His death is horrible.. I grimace each time I see it. Shows off Nero's insanity too, he's just furious that it is the wrong stardate, LOL.

Captain Robau was simply the man. I mean the guy hung slaughterhouse grade strips of splatter resistant plastic from the entrance of his shuttlecraft to shield it's comfy interior from all the carnage happening outside. Sometimes it doesn't work out exactly as one would hope, but still, that level of preparedness is nothing less than Badass.

The guy's so badass that the windows on his bridge tinted when he told them to. Didn't see Pike or Kirk doing anything like that, even when they had shiny stuff glaring them in the face.

Have I mentioned how badass his left eyebrow is?

    Because it is.

    In case anyone was wondering.

Badass Robau is a meme that emerged here after an early interview with Tahir, where it was mentioned that Robau was badass. I think it probably wouldn't have happened if it weren't for that interview -- which makes the interview quite the success.
