Bob Orci and the lost Shatner scene

VOODOOXI

Commander
Red Shirt
I know it's only been a few days since the film was released, but didn't Bob Orci say he was going to post the scene that the writers came up with for Shatner's version of Kirk?

I could be totally off base with this statement, but I thought I remember him saying that he would do that at some point.

If this is true I would love to see how the writers were going to use him just out of curiosity.

If your out there Bob, I loved the movie and I see what you guys meant when you said you couldn't fit Shatner in this time.

The Shat beams onto the Bridge on the final scene and says: "Don't worry kid, you get another Green Girl"

When Shatner was in the Nexus .. hehe sorry let me start that again . When Kirk was in the Nexus he had a choice, he could have went back and killed nero before he killed his dad, or go with Picard to Veridian III to save a few million lives. He made his choice.

How the hell would he have even known about Nero????? Nero was just a boy when Generations took place.

The nexus sees all timelines.

Re: Shatner Scene Revealed

Interesting. But Nimoy's voiceover worked just as well if not better. But it might be nice to see/hear both versions of that last shot and see which was superior.

Oh, I was quite happy with Nimoy doing the voice over. But I think having Shatner do it would have given them an additional reason for having his holographic message to Spock at the end. It would have been less shoe-horning him in because of that.

I don't think it would have hurt the movie at all. I'm guessing Abrams' notion that Shatner didn't want a "cameo" was the big reason behind not doing it, but if they had let Shatner read the script and decide for himself, he might have done it.

Re: Shatner Scene Revealed

Pine should've don the final voice over, to be his opening/inductory entry into his captain's log.

Re: Shatner Scene Revealed

Yuck, sounds forced and corny - Nimoy doing the voiceover worked very well, a lovely nod to STII and a nice fangasm moment for us ;)
Keep Shatner out of nuTrek!

Re: Shatner Scene Revealed

I'm glad Shatner never got to do it..that would not be bringing him back, just using him as a hologram. Not good enough. If Shatner is going to be kept out of the new trek then Nimoy should also.

I agree with cultcross. HoloShat giving out pearls of wisdom to his younger self? No thanks.

Re: Shatner Scene Revealed

I don't mind it except for the implication that young Spock would have needed more help to become Kirk's friend. By that point in the film he doesn't need any more convincing, and I think the scene would have undermined the respect that Kirk and Spock had already developed.

Re: Shatner Scene Revealed

It would have been a cheesy slab of fanwank. Good edit.
