Saavik out of uniform

At least Saavik is wearing pants. :D

So's Ilia in this gum card pic:

If anybody is interested, the people on the right side image are members of the Federation Diplomatic Corps. The gadgets on their left sleeves are part of a three part translation system that would have included a wand like translator as well as an earpiece of some sort (that may be what the masks that two of them are wearing are - I don't remember if that is the case). One of the guys is seen in the San Francisco scene walking in front of Kirk's Air Tram right before the door opens.

Those uniforms were recycled with some color alterations for The Voyage Home were they not? That is a really cool little reference image there.

The edging and electronics were then removed, the white material dyed green, then trim added - to create the Federation Council ushers' costumes for "ST IV: The Voyage Home". Several were auctioned off by It's a Wrap! over recent years.

The metal masks were covered in gauzy material and became UFP alien headgear (worn over a curly grey wig) in "ST VI: The Undiscovered Country"! One was auctioned off by It's a Wrap!

I always just thought it was more comfortable off duty attire. Kirk comments on her hair in the same scene which would seem to indicate that whatever she's been doing, it's on her own time.

No doubt the outfit is "still regulation"

I remember in the novel she had just come from Peter Preston's room, they had developed a friendship between them. Before he died of course.
Because if she'd developed a friendship after he died, that would just be weird. ;)

I dunno, every time I look at that pic, I expect them to break out into "Dancing Queen."

Seeing as she's adopted the 'ravish me against the wall' position, it's obvious that the function of this outfit was designed for ease of removablity.

Saavik was wearing her sex outfit. She had just finished having sex with someone.

Thanks for the additional information Therin (and Basil and MarianLH). I've got considerably more information on TMP than I do do on any of the later movies or shows.

Good enough explaination for me! LOL. I had a feeling she just got out of a booty call when she got into that turbolift... and was wondering if Kirk was still the space stud she always heard about.

Although what I've noticed, its got the tie belt, but it stops mid breast so... it doesn't open
