So after Old Spock's explanation do you guys still consider this "Trekverse 2.0?" Or do you think it's the same continuity as original TOS?
As Starfleet is pretty strict with violations of the time line, I -for one- am pretty sure they'll have to find a way to put Spock back to the future in order to make sure the past isn't what the future made of it... erhm, you know what I mean... right? So after Old Spock's explanation do you guys still consider this "Trekverse 2.0?" Or do you think it's the same continuity as original TOS?
Yes, I guess I am able to think of both continuities as one. I figure all it really takes is a little imagination. So after Old Spock's explanation do you guys still consider this "Trekverse 2.0?" Or do you think it's the same continuity as original TOS?
They were just ''Theorizeing'' that all these events were caused by Spock Prime & Nero. The characters in the movie themselves admit they are now living an altered reality thanks to Nero and Spock Prime.
I don't give it any thought whatsoever. So after Old Spock's explanation do you guys still consider this "Trekverse 2.0?" Or do you think it's the same continuity as original TOS?
It seems to me that this has to be considered a different timeline or universe than the Trek we know - hell, Vulcan exists in TOS, but in this timeline it's been destroyed (and, please, let's not have a convoluted explanation of the Vulcan in TOS being the new Vulcan colony...). But I think part of the idea is that while unexpected things may happen, these are still at the core the characters - and this is the universe - we know and love, albeit in a different guise. It's still Star Trek, just not necessarily Star Trek Approved Timeline #84397-A
Could not agree more.It may not be much, but for me just the fact Nimoy's Spock still EXISTS (and remembers the original history) after all the tampering by Nero is reason enough to accept that this is an alternate timeline.
If he was simply the older version of the alternate Quinto Spock, he would have remembered kicking Kirk off the ship at some point. Along with all the other events Quinto's Spock went through in this movie.
