7 Years or 13?

Randor

Lieutenant Commander
So it's been nearly 7 years since Nemesis the last trek movie, but 13 since FC, the last GOOD trek movie in theatres. I was fifteen back in '96 and that was the last time I was this excited for a movie coming out. This is the first trek movie I'll be taking my wife to and I'm going on opening night with the crowds to get the full expereince for the first time since November 22, 1996 when me and my dad went to FC.

I'm 27 now and feel like a kid. I've never seen Kirk and Spock on the big screen. my first trek theatre movie was Generations. I'm gidddy and counting the hours down to Thursday night.

^ First one I saw was TMP, 30 YEARS AGO!

I was 7 years old then, but I feel ancient!

But, I haven't been excited for a Trek film since TUC, but I'm more excited for this one!

I'd say that a fairer measure would be to say that it's been a 18-year gap between Star Trek and the final movie featuring the original cast (TUC, if you somehow didn't know. ;) )

My first Trek cinema experience was TUC, and it's always held a special place in my heart.

The first Star Trek movie I saw in the theater was The Motion Picture...man I'm getting old. I can't wait to see this movie. Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait to see on Saturday. :(

First ST movie I saw in the cinema was TSFS.

God, I feel old. :(

Mine too!

I was also comparing the feel of anticipation for First Contact to this new movie. I think I may have felt a little more excited for First Contact...but that's probably due to my being 22 or whatever then and 35 now. At 35 I just sort of go."Yeah...that'll be good to see." I never did use the word awesome even in the 80s anyway.

First film I saw at the cinemas was TUD and I've seen every one. I remember squirming through Nemesis at the realisation of how bored I was. I'm going to the movie on Friday with my Dad and then on Saturday with some friends and I cannot wait. It feels weird that after waiting for so long, after all the speculation and hype, it's finally here. I'm just wondering what I'll do after I've seen it - I think I'll be at something of a loss!

Haven't been to a theater a for Trek movie since TMP. The first X-Men movie was the last movie theater visit.

That's rough... i kick my self for not seeing LOTR in theatres.. gf at the time wouldn't go with me. since then i have gone to many movies by myself.

My first indoor cinema experience was the original Star Wars as a teen (before then we had this thing called drive-ins). My first Trek movie was TMP on my birthday as a college freshman.
I have been really excited to see so many younger fans getting into this movie! It makes me feel young and excited again.
"I like this movie! It's exciting!":techman:

Oh good lord, I think I just grew a few gray hairs reading that! :p

According to my mother, I saw TMP in theaters but I was practically a baby at the time. I do remember seeing "TWOK" in the theaters, partly because I had been given a bag of cheeze doodles to eat while watching it, and in my weird brain, "TWOK" will forever be assocated with cheeze doodles.

I've seen every Trek film in theaters, but I have to confess that my enthusiasm went on a major downward slide starting with "Generations". There was a particular "magic" that wasn't there anymore. Once "Nemesis" left me completely unimpressed, I practically shrugged as I left the theater thinking "Damn, what a shame."

I haven't been this excited for a Trek film in over a decade, so I'm counting down the hours til Thursday!

Here's a better way of looking at things: 4 years since the last new Star Trek (Enterpirse ended in 2005). 7 years since the last movie (Nemesis in 2002). That's a 4 and a 7, which combine to create a 47. And that's Star Trek for you.

Ditto here.

Back in MY day, we didn't HAVE any previous motion pictures against which to compare the latest movie. We had to make do with complaining that "it's been nearly X years since I last saw episode Y on TV."

Heck, we didn't even know about the "odd/even numbered movie" thing.

AND WE LIKED IT!:angryrazz:

Incidently, although I was quite a young kiddie at the time, my mother and grandad went to see TMP, so I'm claiming that as my own!!!! ;)
