The best Star Trek? (Excluding TOs and TNG)

What is, IYO, the best Star Trek? To prevent the poll from finishing with 35% TOS, 60% TNG and 5% the other shows, I didn't include TOS and TNG. So, what's your favourite trek between DS9, VOY and ENT?

Enterprise.

I've found that the twenty-fourth century really doesn't interest me anymore (outside early TNG). Enterprise ranks third behind Star Trek and The Next Generation seasons 1 and 2.

Odd exclusion criteria. In my experience, this board usually votes DS9 ahead of TNG.

In recent years, I've re-watched DS9, and discovered that it holds up much better then Next Gen.

Sure, it has it's silly moments--but overall, I enjoy the series much more now than I did when I first saw it.

This poll should be called "Best Gene-Less Star Trek" since he had no input on them, unlike the first two series. I think Voyager and Enterprise both suck, but at least Enterprise had "In A Mirror, Darkly", which I think is so strong it's as good as almost any solid TNG, "Star Trek", or DS9 episode. Deep Space Nine is truly on a much higher level than the other two. The drop in quality between it and Voyager is immense.

Doesn't DS9 usually win these polls even when they are included with TOS and TNG fighting for second? As for me I vote DS9. My full ranking would be:
1. TOS
2. TNG
3. DS9
4. ENT
5. VOY

Perhaps a better poll would have been "Which is better: Voyager or Enterprise"? Because DS9's going to beat both their butts, hands-down. Also, a TNG-DS9 head-to-head might be interesting. My personal ranking:

DS9>TNG>VOY>ENT (to be fair, I've only seen ENT S1&2 plus TATV.)

DS9 by a long shot. I can't watch ENT without falling asleep and VOY has too high a ratio of boring episodes to decent episodes for me to enjoy it.

DS9 had more intelligent scripts and more solid, better developed characters than the other shows. It's a no brainer.


However, the fourth season of ENT should get an honourable mention.

Usually I have a tough time selecting between TOS and DS9. In fact sometimes I vote TOS and sometimes DS9. Without TOS in the poll it's very simple for me: DS9.

That Poll wouldn't have finished like that at all. DS9 would either win or be very little behind TNG in that Poll; based on past Polls of that kind, IIRC.

Anyhow, DS9 is by far the best Trek show, even if you include all 5. The only other one that even comes close to its quality is TOS; but TOS has no way to compete in terms of storytelling or character development due to its primitive 'episodic format'. Ditto for the other Trek shows, which cannot compete on those levels either, nor many others in addition.

Eh, TOS and TNG are better than the rest but since the obvious ones are gone I'll have to go with DS9. It's not really THAT much better than the rest of trek, in fact it's kind of overrated within the fandom but the serialized storytelling and fact it had status quo changing effects on the Trekverse on a grand scale I suppose put it a bit above VOY and ENT. VOY suffered from too much Exec Meddling while ENT was cut short.
