For me anyway, an upswing from the past few episodes. Plus, IMO another well-executed Star Trek reference.

I give it a thumbs-up.

Does Seth MacFarlene go out of his way to make intentionally bad television? It sure looks that way. Nothing funny at all tonight.

I thought this was an excellent episode. It seemed to have more of a linear story and less cut away gags than the norm this season. I also thought the idea of this Paris Hilton type girl being a genius very funny (I'm not familiar with the Hills). I also liked Gillian marrying DEREK! YEAH! DEREKS REPRESENT! He even looked like me :D

This was the first episode in a long while that actually made me laugh, and the Genesis Cave part was bloody brilliant.

I just about died laughing with the whole Genesis Cave bit.

Excellent episode.

I got a good couple laughs out of this episode, considering how miserable I've been the past few days, that's saying something.

If they keep it up they'll have The Wrath of Khan all spoofed up by 2012.

I was going to suggest Kristin Bell play a younger Carol Marcus in Star Trek XII, but I think Lauren Conrad would work just for the laugh value.

Sometimes it takes a very specific situation to make me realize how big of a geek I am. I had turned Family Guy on, but was in the kitchen doing something for a minute when the TWOK/Genesis cave reference was used. All I heard was the music, and I immediately knew where it was from, before I walked back into the living room and saw the TV. The fact that my brain was able to decipher Star Trek -> TWOK -> Genesis Cave -> Carol Marcus all from a single cue of music is both amazing... and a little sad.

Anyways, I found last night's episode to be much improved over previous weeks.

Is it weird that I'd never heard of Lauren Conrad until this episode? Is she someone of whom I'm supposed to be aware?

The Genesis cave bit had me laughing alright, but IMO it's lazy writing. What's the point of a 22-minute episode if your longest gag is a direct replication of an existing movie scene? It's like the giant chicken appearances without the creativity.

The TWOK cave overshadowed everything else but I also just remembered Gillian's perfect fiance, specifically how he caught the glasses.

Also, the joke about only understanding the last three words of a Sting lyric:

Um-Hmm-uh-huh, La-eh-um-mu-mm-ah, Ba-da-da-fields of holly.

:rommie:

Yeah the next one, according to Wiki is called "Something, Something, Something, Dark Side" and will air as the next season premiere in the fall.

What I saw was amusing. Though, again...STEWIE is a gay crossdresser...is getting a bit tired.

Yeah, the Sting jab was fun.

That was hilarious from start to finish. I agree that Stewie has been misused for a while, but he still had a funny part when crossing the street to meet Brian and Lauren.

And to the guy who didn't like the Genesis cave? Lazy writing my ass! The show has always been about dumping large amounts of mostly 80s references. The A-Team one was pretty good too, I thought.
