There's been Rani rumors ever since she was mentioned in the early confidentials, really. Some say she was the one who picked up the ring, or that Donna was really the Rani using a Chameleon arch or something else like that.


Apparentally Rachel Weisz has expressed interest in a role in WHO, and I think she'd make a more convincing Rani than Anderson (Although Gillian Anderson has played British roles in the past)

It's interesting that the line first says Anderson will appear in season 5, but then *suggests* "The Rani would be the perfect role for her" - implying that either a) She's signed on and the person doesn't know who as, so is guessing, or b) the whole thing's a load of bollocks to preserve the running gag of "<insert actress' name here> is the Rani" in order to try to lure the Sun reporters.

Yeah, Moffat's scripts always seem to attract the most 'mainstream' talent (Sophia Myles, Alex Kingston etc.) so it makes sense for her to be interested.

I'd love to see Gillian Anderson in Who but I think she'd be wasted as the Rani - I'd much rather see her as someone new.

I adore Gillian Anderson so I'd love to see her in Who, and I think she'd make a better Rani than Romana. Get Anderson as Rani and Emilia Fox as Romana and I'll probably explode...

On topic, I welcome Gillian Anderson appearing in anything, having her in Who would be fantastic. I barely ever watched the X-Files but I've still had a schoolboy crush on her since 1995.
