God Blessed Texas With His Own Hand, so whatever road it would choose, he's right behind it, win or lose...
There's a good chance I am an insane person who doesn't know what he is talking about, but lately I have been thinking California should secede from the Union, take Alaska with us, and annex Baja California as well.
Californians are already and arrogant isolated bunch who thinks the rest of the country doesn't matter because we have everything already. We have deserts, forests, mountains, valley's, snow. We got cows, agriculture, oil. We got movies. We've got military bases. We got big metropolises like LA and small metropolises like SF. We're already one of the largest economies in the world. The only things we need are wheat and corn and what else is Iowa and Kansas going to do with that stuff, but sell it to us.
Take over Alaska and we got oil coming out our asses. Take over Baja and we got all the cheap labor anyone could need and no more immigration problem. We could even name our President something cool like Dear Leader or El Jefe.

There are several areas in the U.S. that have secessionist groups. Northern California once wanted to secede from S. California. Vermont once actually passed a State Resolution. We can add States like Hawaii.
And the strongest bond is not the Constitution, but the almighty Federal Dollar. Which the Federal Government uses quite effectively to keep all States in line.

Don't know much about any rumblings in Texas, but yeah, the rumblings have been around in Alaska for years. In fact, the Alaska Independence Party, which is actually a viable third party in Alaska, was founded based partly on that agenda.
It's not ALL about that, but Alaskans are a very independent lot, many of whom moved up there to begin with to get away from everything related to the Lower 48. It shouldn't be surprising that some just want to leave the whole country behind....

yes and they decided to lurk in the shadows gaining power and increasing in numbers as a secret society so that one day they could succeed in seceding.
Spoken like a true SOUTHERN Californian. We in Northern California love the rest of the country and were happy to share all of our tech advances of the last 30 years with the world. (Which, in turn, helped lead to the incredible tech industry growth in Austin, Texas)
