But I guess anythings better than the Fonzdue they had and the next dinner party.
IIRC, Buffy's dad only appeared a grand total of twice on the show, in "Nightmares" & "When She Was Bad." (And it wasn't even really him in "Nightmares." It was just another hallucination.)
But in his defense, as far as he knew, Dawn was still being raised by now legally adult Buffy. Willow & the rest of the gang were concealing Buffy's death from the rest of the world, human & demon, with the aid of the Buffy robot.
More troubling was the sudden change in his characterization. In the early seasons, he was just the seldom seen non-custodial parent. But in later seasons, he was spoken of as an indifferent asshole who didn't even have the common courtesy to visit Buffy & Dawn after Joyce died.
In retrospect, it's a shame that Buffy's father didn't appear more often on the series. They probably could have gotten a good episode out of the conflict between Buffy's actual father and her surrogate father figure, Giles.
The father's younger son, Brendan, disappeared without explanation after the show moved from ABC to CBS. However, unlike the Cunningham family on Happy Days, the Foster-Lambert family would still count him numerically among their children.
Chuck didn't just "disappear",...he was sucked into one of those time vortex's and ended up battling with a sword!!!...
Yeah, Sam the butcher got hold to him.
Eugene Barkley on The Big Valley. He was a real nowhere man character who didn't even get a spot in the opening credits.

Nope - though according to Shatner's memoirs, Grace Lee Whitney was let go due to a dependancy problem she developed after being sexually assaulted.
Also, Little Joe's half-brother, Clay, on Bonanza. It essentially was a guest shot, but they never mentioned him again.
Of course Adam, Little Joe and Hoss WERE half-brothers, but by Ben.
Also, Adam just vanished as well. We found out later in TV-movie sequels that he moved to Australia to make his own fortune. (Since series creator David Dortort produced those TV-movies, I consider that the actual explanation for Adam's departure).

Really?! This is the first I've heard of that. I'd heard that she was just let go because she was getting too much money. (IIRC, she had already been kinda famous before Star Trek as a mermaid in some tuna fish commercials. That's why she commanded such a high salary.)
