Hm...there is that, and I can't refute it.

But...correct me if I'm wrong, but this would not allow you such access to copywrighted AMERICAN material.

    Right?

Well...for me, I believe in compensating those for their work. I work artistically myself, and hope I'm in a position at some point where my art alone is pulling in my cash. I would be very upset if someone was leeching my stuff for free.

    Any artist should be.

Ahh Rationalization..the way all criminals justify illegal actions..

No different than "every body's doing it" or "If I don't someone else will"

I hope you don't ever find my wallet with credit cards in it..you stand a good probability of rationalizing the use of my cards and ID...

    That's absurd.

I'd have to be able to forge your signature and know your PIN codes.

I love Court Martial. IMO, the strength of the episode is in the characters- not the nonsensical plot. Shatner and Cook deliver marvelous performances as do the supporting players. Ben Finney was a bit over-the-top... but that doesn't detract from the episode.

That was the real strength of the original Trek in general, really. Even when the plot was a mess or the episode was under funded, the characters were entertaining enough to carry the episode (and later, the films).

I remain hopeful that JJ Abrams and his team will be able to recapture a bit of that magic... I can hardly blame others for not maintaining that hope, though.

"Court Martial" has always been in my top dozen episodes in term of character development, interaction and meaning to the overall evolution of the series. If Abrams can recapture ANY of what made episodes like that such A-level classics he'll be doing well.

Unlikely. It looks like Pine's Kirk doesn't head off to the academy until he is in his mid-twenties. He may not meet Ben Finney at all.

Quantum physics... The creation of diverging timelines existing parallel to each other... Similar, but different universes... see TNG Parallels, however, without the reset button, or the mirror universe...

[I've got this strange sense of deja vu... Didn't we have this type of discussion, like, a million times before?]

Oh, I see what you're getting at. I misread miraclefan's post. I thought he was saying that the events of Court Martial will still happen to the new crew in their future.

    Oops.

Yeah, it still happened in the regular universe.

Does anyone else think it ironic that Warped9:
    1) started this post about a courtroom episode of Star Trek- which is a morality play about bringing someone to justice-
    2) and is also admitting he will illegally download and watch the movie he says is not worth seeing???
I dunno... sure sounds ironic to me... or is just hypocritical?
