New Ships Revealed!

There's a pic of the spacestation from the new film and a close up shows a number of 'new' ships docked. And lots of shuttles flyin' 'round.

Just like the Bridesmaids are there to make the Bride look good.

The Station reminds me of Franz Joseph's "Star Fleet HQ" from the old Tech Manual

The station does look cool.

I wonder if this is supposed to be Starbase One, or just another station in Earth orbit. I'd be torn about the first, because I'm a big fan of the old 'orbital mushroom' design, but completely cool with the latter.

I don't feel like I can really see enough detail on the ships to judge them yet.

They look related to the Kelvin. It looks like they have the same nacelle(s) and engine hull anyway.

Apparently that's the starship development rationale of this era. Why make pretty ships if you don't have to? Must be Starfleet's bailout plan. Make the design fokes redundant, steal all the interior work from Apple and save loads!
