I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state

Wiretap your citizens without a warrant? No problem.

Pick up mentally disabled American citizens, whisk them away to a prison that's a legal black hole, then release them onto the streets of Mexico (because their skin is brown, so that must be where they belong)? No problem.

Offer money to the states to extend unemployment and discuss providing health care for those who aen't covered? That's just one step to far!

On behalf of the people of Texas, please allow this letter to certify that we will accept the funds in H.R.1 and use them to promote economic growth and create jobs in a fiscally responsible manner that is in the best interest of Texas​

I never understood US politics.

Under the US Constitution, the Federal Government derives its power by what the PEOPLE and the STATES says it can have. In the last 150 years or so, the Federal Government has been usurping power. The 10th Amendment lays out that anything not defined under Constitution, for the Federal Government, belongs to the States, hence States Rights.

It's one of the fastest growing states in the US with one of the strongest and diverse economies. We'd be better off without California.
