I have watched the trailers many, many times on hi-fi equipment and you can argue all you like but he definitely says Siberius, not Tiberius.
This has been gnawing away at me for months when I was in bed and I finally decided to do something about it.
To get final proof I used software which can analyse sounds and finally confirm what I am hearing is Siberius not Tiberius.
I also used wavepad which can show the waveform.I isolated the first part of the sound and compared with the S sound I speak and other generic S's.
Comparison of general phonetic S sounds with the first part of the word will confirm.
I think that kid either needs elocution lessons or someone mistyped his script using an S instead of a T.
I would also ask else to confirm the results I got using their own software.
So, I have to ask, exactly what type of software are you using? It sure sounds pretty high end, you know, the kind of thing that either was written specifically for a certain set of experiments by a university professor, or costs a ton of money.
Could you name-drop the software your using? It would help your case. See, I really don't think such technology exists - that kind of software is always a tool that doesn't really do anything unless an expert is using it.
I just find it unlikely that you are an expert in linguistics that can't type.
Also, he clearly uses a voiceless alveolar plosive when he says his middle name.
I used Goldwave version 5.02, Wavosaur 1.00 and Audacity as well.
These programs are largely low cost or free. You can even use music composing software just like sound engineers in music studios. The software gives you a visual display. You can zoom right in to a sound down to microseconds. You don't have to be a linguistics expert at all. Most musicians are not.
You can even use midi software.
I carefully measured the space and timings between James Siberius.
I could not find a t sound at all.It was always S,confirming my worst fears.
What I did was rip the sound from all the trailers including the official high quality trailers.I then cut out the bits Jam-- and --berius.
I then analyzed the "essi" bit over and over again.
I must have played it more than a thousand times and I just could not find the t in James-iberious. I could only detect an S sound.
I am very, very tired now as it took nearly all of my holiday weekend.
I ask others to repeat the analysis to confirm my fears and then we could mail them to JJ Abrams.
