Which film had the best ''opening'' music?

I am looking for ways to pass the time till NU-TREK, so I ask you, which is your favorite? For me, it's REALLY tough to chose between the ''Thunderous & Ominous'' TUC, & the ''gentel & mysterious'' First Contact!

First Contact. I love that score. For me the runners up would easily be TVH and TUC in that order.

I actually agree with you there, but it really was more of a ''intro'' theme then an ''opening'' theme!

TMP, though if you were talking about best music following the credits, there'd be a tie between TMP and TFF for the klingon sequence and the Yosemite sequence.

Ah, me. I'm a bit partial towards TWOK. It had that smooth build-up start unlike the abrupt and out of nowhere beginning of TMP, the Alexander Courage beginning and the wonderful unique Trek theme by James Horner.

TMP/TFF, but I love the TWOK main title also. I have to go with TMP because to me, Jerry Goldsmith was a genius and I LOVE all of his music from many other films as well.

So, there's a soft spot there.

I grew to like it later -- it just wasn't what I was expecting.

That's funny, two of the people I saw TWOK with said the same thing opening night (we all missed the Goldsmith, right up until the sneak attack cue.)

I love the FC theme along with the dissolving credits. It has such a serene quality to it, which makes the Borg theme and opening scenes on the ship so jarring.

Which is why, I finally voted First Contact! It's just a BEAUTIFUL work of ART! Oh! and ''Too Much Fun'' I'm glad I'm not the only person who tears up listing to this.

Wholeheartedly agree. It was brief, too brief, but I like the drum-driven score on the close-in to Romulus.

Yeah, I'm kinda tempted to vote for Nemesis just because of that. But then it is Nemesis we're talking about here...
