First Contact, definitely. It's a beautiful soft track, and I love the move into "Locutus"
 
When everyone is voting for "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", are they voting for that same music that became the theme of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" on TV (I haven't seen that movie in a long time)? If so, I think they're giving it way more praise than it deserves as an opening theme. I've never liked it as an opening theme for the show and I wouldn't like it at the beginning of a movie...I just think it's too over-the-top for something to be heard before a movie or show starts. It always turned me off having it before the show. I think the best themes (especially for TV) should be short, or if they have to be longer, more subtle/low-key. This one is too epic, grand, and majestic sounding to me...it gives me more of a feeling of "finality" rather than introduction. I think it works better as a closing theme.
