I'm now afraid with all this talk about lens flares, I won't be able to ignore them next time I see the movie, even thought they didn't register once with me the first time I saw it.

There wouldn't be so many flares if there weren't so many damn lights on the bridge!

Ok so about the clip, I get the impression NuSpock is not supposed to be told where the info on how to beam in at warp came from, (I don't want to be told for sure but) I bet NuSpock never gets told of of his future visit back in time. (Doc Brown would be pleased)

That's very interesting, knowing Kirk and Scotty know something about his future and keep that a secret from him all his life. I'll never look at the Classic episodes in the same way!

There is a reason, established in a previous scene, for everything Kirk is doing - it's not necessarily because Spock is not supposed to be told.

Quinto definately has the Vulcan thing down pretty damned well. Every time I watch that clip, I'm hearing a lot of Tuvok in the way that he sounds and talks.

No, you'd better not say more... for your sake.

Cloverfield was specifically shot to look like it was filmed with a simple hand held camera, held by one of the "heroes" in the film.

It was also directed by Matt Reeves and not Abrams.

what irks me is that there seems to a sound effect with the high speed pans

The whole thing sounds like Speed Racer or something.

It is quite speed racer-ish, but I think the visual style is great. The lens flares are cool, although every 5 seconds (as it seems to be) might get a tad annoying

    Yeah.

You'd have to justify associating it with anything about this film beyond the fact that they had the same producer - and that's just for starts. :)

Yeah, I'm hearing more Russ than Nimoy but that's fine--Russ was one of the very few things I liked about VOY.

Look at Cupcake standing there - he's thinking "The farmboy's trying to piss Spock off. I've seen this somewhere before." ;)

I am a huge Simon Pegg fan. However does anyone else think his Scottish accent sounds just like his normal accent? Decidedly not Scottish. This clip has only 2 brief Scotty lines so maybe he will sound more Scottish in the context of the entire film.

I love Quinto's delivery in that clip. He's reminiscent of Nimoy in that there are subtle hints of emotion peaking through the stoic exterior. Nimoy would often have a hint of a smile or a twinkle in his eye- little things to show that Spock was a character rather than a robot. Quinto's definitely got it (at least in this brief clip).

Russ and Blalok were always a bit monotone for my taste... then again, they were both playing full-blooded vulcans.

    listen to doohan.
depending on what scotty was doing and feeling the depth of the accent would change.

i think we will need to hear more to tell.

I thought this screen cap was pretty funny. Pegg has one of the most expressive faces.
