If you could have one sci fi set built in your basement...

Either the TARDIS interior from the 1996 TVM with Paul McGann, or the library from Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Fullsize Enterprise E. The whole frigging ship! If I'm going to dream, I'll dream big!

Would be tough to do in a basement, but I've always been fond of the centrifuge from Discovery in 2001: A Space Odyssey; when I was younger, I wanted my bedroom to be done like the airlock corridor from the film, with all my belongings and even my bed stashed away inside the walls :bolian:.

I still think we need a Star Trek hotel, laid out like a ship's saucer, with each deck being designed to look like a different series - original 1701, 1701-A, Voyager, NX-01, Terok Nor & Defiant, etc. After seeing the shots from AbramsTrek, I still wonder what such a building designed to look like an actual starship in drydock would cost, and if it would even be possible. Imagine staying at that hotel! :)

^^^I've often fantasized about such a hotel. However, I'd want the whole ship. It could be like a huge simulator. I know, I'm a dreamer.

Ops from DS9, but I doubt I could fit it in my basement. Built to scale it would probably be close to two floors.

^^

Oh, I definitely meant the whole ship in the latter part of my post - although it would, by necessity, contain more 'quarters' than an 'actual' starship would. You'd still want areas like engineering, the hangar deck, sickbay and the transporters, just to offer that part of the experience, but you could have a functional arboretum, a bowling alley, a pool, a convention center, all the amenities of a first-class hotel that could also be an integral part of the 'shipboard' experience. One compromise I'd make, though, is to put a bridge at the center of every deck (maybe every other deck, for the interior height), so everyone could experience it without overcrowding or impossible waiting periods. :).

For the exterior, I think the 1701 Refit would probably be the best, but it could still use the concept of a different 'ship' for each internal deck, so patrons could have a choice. :)

Me and one of my buddies have been playing the lottery, and we vowed if we ever won to build the Galactica's CiC in the backyard :D

The lab from This Island Earth
Mom: What are you doing down there?
Me: nothing!
Mom: Are you building an interocitor?
Me: No!

Really though, I'd have to say the moonpool from the Abyss

The gate room from Stargate SG-1, including the control and briefing rooms. And maybe some hallways. Imagine showing off the big, spinning, glowing, steam-emitting gate to your friends. :D

Plus, it's already underground, so that's accurate.

Pike-era TOS bridge with functional-looking controls and monitors. Must be complete with sound effects, and the viewscreen hooked up to a DVD player with every episode of every Star Trek series ever made, along with the movies. I also want internet access from all the side consoles and the ability to play all Trek video/computer games on the big screen from the helm/nav console.

Can you get more comfortable than this? And the big screen TV wipes out all others. It doesn't get any better than this:

Perhaps a close second:

And this room from the ST Online game is cool:

I'm surprised no one has said Ten Forward. That would be my first pick since I want a bar in my basement.

Other's I'd like:
  • TNG bridge including the Ready room, Observation lounge and the head we never saw!
  • Pretty much all other bridges from Trek
  • DS9 Ops
  • Quarks
  • TNG engineering
That's all I can think of for now.

I've already mentioned TOS bridge and the Nostromo, but ever since I saw 2001 in the theater I've wanted my own pod (open the pod bay doors HAL).
