The Narada, revisited

STXI_Narada_V2_WIP_010.jpg
No I don't see any V'GER resemblance, but what I do see in this picture ^ is a very ''STRONG'' resemblance to the ''SHADOW'' fighter from BABYLON 5!
You know, that's true... Didn't even think of that!

I posted a new wallpaper over in my wallpaper thread. :)

Are we certain that we know which end is the front of the ship? After reading the final Countdown issue, the Narada is shown going into warp with it's tentacle area being the behind portion of the ship.

Really? I read it, but didn't pay that much attention to that particular image. The one I looked at the most was the one where it de-cloaked, after taking out the Klingon Fleet.

If it's the other way around... I can change it. :)

May I recommend the middle panel on Page 15 of volume 3? You will notice that the Narada has a somewhat equal sized front compared the the size of the rear tentacles. The tentacles don't even start from the other end of the ship.

Yeah,I do remember that image. But, I think the Narada Grows, and gets larger with time. Maybe I'm wrong, but throughout the comic, it seems to get larger, and more powerful. As it does, it looks like the shape changes...

In that case, I recommend the second trailer at 01:42 that shows the non-tentacle end of the Narada. You will note that it still bears a resemblance to that page I mentioned in the comic, and that it has what appears to be some very lobster head-like features. I see no evidence of an engine that you portray it to have.

Here is a screen grab from the trailer that I was referring to.

Oh, I see what you mean. I really wish we had dome images of this ship, that showed the whole thing!

OK, I've done a few updates on this one, mainly removing the "engine" and giving it a "head". Thanks, Jeyl, for bringing that to my attention. :)

I think this looks a little more convincing.

A few more changes... I make the "arms" all slightly different at the ends, to make it not as symmetrical. Also, in the middle, I had left in a temporary part, that I removed.

I don't know what these guys were thinking about when they designed this... Maybe they ate too may King Crab legs? :)

My, my. That's a good looking ship. You're a true talent MadMan for getting this up and online so quickly. Very impressive.

I just stumbled upon another potential image of the Narada from the Playmates bridge set. It's probably not the real thing since toy companies usually work with sketches and not the finished product (First Contact Enterprise E being a painful example), but here you go.

Narada On Screen

The resemblance between what's on the screen and the Narada on page 15 of Volume 3 in Countdown are strikingly similar. This is just my observation, but I don't think the Narada has a neck like structure the way it's portrayed in your shots. They're still great by the way!

Thanks. :)

I think you're right, but I can't think of a way to fix it, without re-building the entire back end. I'll wait until we get some better reference material, and hopefully some good distance shots.

Ok. you finished your Enterprise, now it's time to finish it's Nemesis. Get back to work!

There are little othro views on the Burger King glasses with Nero, maybe use that as a reference... as well of using the what you see in the movie. :p

Well Madman, looks like your speculations on the direction the Narada goes was the correct one. The spikes are indeed the front of the ship. While I personally think it's better the other way around, I'm sorry I threw you off.
