Hip Hip..Hooray!!!

Okay...when the final scene of the movie fades away...will the crowd cheer? Because, to me, that is a good benchmark. When people walked out of Nemesis like zombies, with no life, I knew we had a turkey on our hands...but I definately remember people cheering after KHAN and VOYAGE HOME....

And more recently when I saw DARK KNIGHT the first time the theatre cheered, as it did with Iron Man too...

So...will it get a hip hip hooray....or more zombies?

I have been to a lot of movies in my life, but I don't remember people ever cheering and hip hip hooraying at the end.
Even when the movie was great and you could hear the positive chatter and see the smiles.

I expect this will be the same around my parts.

I've generally only experienced cheers at arty movies... you know, the whole polite applause bit.

Wow..where I live, in San Diego California, I have been in theatres where people cheered and clapped. The biggest cheer recently was for Dark Knight...but Transformers got a good cheer to. The end of X2 got a good responce too...

I have been to movies where there was a negative response as well. Nemesis didn't get any responce since, as I said, it literally sucked the life out of everyone there. But Alien Resurrection got a tub of popcorn thrown at the screen...that was pretty balzy...

STAR WARS NEW HOPE got a stand ovation when I saw it...so did Superman 1

When I saw Titanic, it got a standing ovation.

When I saw Batman and Robin, people were laughing AT the movie.

When I saw Star Wars: Episode I, people were looking at eachother when it was over as if to say... That was it?!?

As far as I remember... (and I'm just too young) people were laughing at "Grandma's Boy", can't remember anything else that touched people
Or maybe it's just the city I'm living in...

People cheered at Dark Knight and if memory serves, Watchmen.

Fingers crossed for something similar here, I think it will happen. Opening night in Leicester Square, London

I've seen people cheer during a good scene, but never at the end of a movie. I suppose the general chatter and mood will be a decent indicator if the majority like it. That and if people aren't walking out in the middle.

You know, I just remembered a time when the audience did clap and cheer...A lot

It was back in 2007 in "The Mist" when during the movie that religious nutjob Mrs Carmody was shot and killed.

Happened to me - At the end of ST:IV, when the crew got it's new Enterprise-A, the theatre applauded. This is in Canada, and we're usually rather reserved folk. Well, not always. I also remember when, right in the middle of the climactic starship battle in ST:II, the film broke! The theatre was stunned for a moment, so into the action everyone froze. Near the front, one man stood up and turned to the projector window and in a steady and highly threatening voice he said loudly; "FIX... THE... F@CKING... FILM". Then, everyone broke out laughing. Within moments the film was fixed and the action continued, to great cheers! Ah, man, Trek movie memories. :)

I think there may have been cheering after the LotR movies, but they were probably midnight shows with the hardcore fans.

We always let our feelings about a film be known at films end, either clapping and cheering or booing and hissing.
