What Does Trek United think of the new movie?

They probably don't believe it's happening because everyone was saying we wouldn't see Trek again for 10-20 years if Enterprise was cancelled. I was trying to get webarchive to work for TrekBBS of that period with no luck but I remember numerous people saying this at the time. I need proof so I can say "Ha, I told you so!".

They're not the same as the BBK guys, right?
There may have been a few people who were involved in both, but no, not the same.

As far as what the Trek United folks think about this movie, I haven't been keeping track -- hell, I'm falling way behind on what's going on in other forums on this board -- so I don't really know, but they do seem to be discussing it.

Like Trekunited aren't individuals, with opinions that cross the whole spectrum of fandom... Many were fans before Enterprise and are still there now it's gone. Actually from the looks of it, there are less fans over there who regularly chat about "their show" than here.

Fuck, you only have to go back as far as 2006:

For the record, J.J. Abrams's deal to revive Star Trek was announced two days later.

Of course, then there was the brilliant, determined insistence by one poster that the Abrams-is-doing-Trek story was just PR bullshit intended to support the opening of MI:3, and that it would simply evaporate afterward. ;)

Well, can anybody prove they've actually seen this alleged new Star Trek movie?

This is the internet. Nothing is real. On May 8, 2009 I will go to an imaginary theater and watch an imaginary movie. I will imagine I am enjoying the hell out of it!

TrekUnited has been assimilated. Their technological and biological distinctiveness have been added to own own. Resistance was futile.

TrekUnited is a fan community just like this place, there are no ongoing campaigns or anything like that anymore, the focus these days is supporting fan projects relating to Trek. TU's reputation has been damaged by a few individuls in the past, but these day they are trying to move on from those eventful times and just be a place were fans around the wold can get together to share in all the things that are Star Trek.

Besides. Enterprise season 5?? heck the new thing is BSG season 5 complete with episode rating polls right here on trekbbs. :) :)

I've been a lurker over there and a few of those posters are a little overboard. There are a couple of people who come up with some awfully silly posts to slam the movie. Like 7 paragraphs worth of stuff about nothing because of 2 seconds worth of material.

Sorry, I really can't let the underlying meaning of that fly... There are always bad apples, but for most part I saw fans standing up for what they believed in, against being bullied into accepting "received wisdom" about ENT. TU's reputation took more damage from within, by moving away from the core value from which it was formed. Focusing on too many projects, far removed from the reason many joined in the first place. Hard to show any support when members drop off, frustrated at being marginalised in a place they considered their online home.

Then there is the legend that was Al Vinci...

I was an internet supporter ($$$) with TU from the begining...

WE had grand idea's and a lot of hope...

Shame TPTB had other ideas for UPN (which got them no where).

Ah well....
