I'm definitley wearing a sombrero to Star Trek.

I wish I still had the Epic Sombrero. It was black and silver, and epic.

Alas.

I'll have one with me...goodness knows whether or not they will let me into the theater with it but I'll give it my best shot!

Will also post pic...

There were at least a couple of sets made back in the earlier days of this thread. I think Outpost4 might have made one and Carpe Occasio might have done another.

So, the big question, WHO is going to wear a Sombrero to the theater when they go to watch Star Trek ?
Umm... sorry, but No. Then again, I never wore a costume to a convention either. My ex-fiancee did.
You can bet I will be there. My brother- who for decades made fun of my love for Trek- is going with me and even offered to buy the tickets!!
Say what you want, Haters, non-trekkie-geeks are looking forward to this movie!
It would be a pretty hilarious way to meet fellow TrekBBSers. If someone other than you shows up to the theater in a sombrero, it's likely they also post here.

If it turned out that they don't post here, and that they were wearing a sombrero anyway, that would be even funnier.

OR you can get a little mini/toy sombrero, stick it on your index finger and wave it up in the air in front of the screen every so often...going "OLE!"

That's actually a neat idea. We could introduce that as the secret greeting, secret handshake kind of thing for members of the Cult of the Epic Sombrero. ;)

Good thinking! :techman:

I think we must pledge to wear our sombreros when we go to see the film. I suggest that the faithful take photos in front of the theater and post them to show their allegiance to the Fraternal Order of Blue Nacelles.

Those of you who do not already own sombreroes should be able to easily find them as we approach cinco de mayo.

Thanks!:p

It's cheaper, involves less hubbub and you don't get the ushers and other employees at your cineplex asking you to hand over the hat and/or "please leave." Finger Sombreros allow you to spread the BBS spirit without getting a record.

Sombreros affect Klingons in a manner similar to Tribbles.

I'd love to see a pic of someone wearing their sombrero in the theater with the brim filled with popcorn that their friend is eating while sitting behind the wearer. :techman:

that might be too much..
as to the sombreros being like tribbles to klingons..
hm so that is why starfleet adapted them for the ships.
;)

Gary Mitchell would never have been mutated had his brain been protected by a Sombrero. Just my theory.

It is possible. But it may also be the same thing that led dolphins and sharks to have the same basic shape, function. Sombreros are naturally the most efficient shape for a spacecraft, when one keeps in mind the need to carry blinky lights and googly eyes. The Klingons have no choice but to tremble at the marvelous simplicity of Federation headgear.
