it isnt about the hate it is about the fun.
:)

i actulally thought about having a party thread in the forum the weekend the movie comes out.

that is if the mods are ok with it.

i am also thinking of getting a sombrero to wear.
i will of course take it off inside the threatre.

:)

something i want to bring up..
it would be cool if a lot of bought back sombrero avatars for when the movie arrives.
i know some of us already have but if most of the people who have posted in the thread bought them back.

Mine never went away either...,

It just shrunk so much that it blew off of Steweys ass when he farted and landed in Spocks hand!

You have GOT to show up pics of that...and spread the word to other fans up there about the BBS and our sombrero antics!

I'll do my best, explaining sombreros and their relationship to Star Trek absolutely involves a discussion of the BBS and usually an email of a link to this thread.

I've occasionally seen full size straw sombreros for a buck at "Dollar Tree" and other "Dollar" stores, and they usually stock them for Cinco de Mayo, which means they should be arriving in stores in plenty of time for Trek's May 8th premiere.

If your local dollar store or party supply store don't normally carry them, Oriental Trading Company's has 24" Adult sized Sombreros for $24.99 per Dozen, and for just a few bucks over regular delivery, you can get them shipped overnight.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there's no excuse for not wearing a sombrero to Trek's opening weekend.

There's bound to be a few of those "We're here at the cinema because Star Trek's been released and it's time to talk to a few geeks" news items.

Two words: Sombrero Subversion.

Oh yeah.

:D

I hope the sombrero thing spreads and it makes E! News.

"Trek fans and geeks don...sombreros? For the premiere of the latest movie in the classic franchise. What's the deal with the Mexican attire, Jules?"

^ "Sombreroprise = Sombrero + prise"
Nothin' gets past them.

I'm bored, and did a search for Sombreroprise:
Sombreroprise spotted...
In Spain
In Germany
In South Korea
In the Middle East

And then there's this:
pensive1mentioned in her pm to me something about wearing sombreros to the convention to celebrate Sombreroprise. I was mystified and intrigued by this mostly because I had no idea what this meant. Bad fangirl me!! I did my research (read half of the 75 trekbbs pages on the topic) and am now in the know. Now where the hell can I find a sombrero. Me wants to wear one in pride.
La resistencia es inútil. :borg:

So, the big question, WHO is going to wear a Sombrero to the theater when they go to watch Star Trek ?

Umm... sorry, but No. Then again, I never wore a costume to a convention either. My ex-fiancee did.
You can bet I will be there. My brother- who for decades made fun of my love for Trek- is going with me and even offered to buy the tickets!!
Say what you want, Haters, non-trekkie-geeks are looking forward to this movie!
