Most theatres do charge a bit more for an IMAX screening, but depending on the theatre's normal feature prices, it may only be a couple dollars more.

It's $14.00 bucks a ticket for IMAX here in the Capital District of NY...

I'm gonna go to the $7.00 dollar, Regular Matinée.

There's an Imax in Austin, but it's part of the Texas State History Museum. I don't know that they play features like Star Trek. Now if they could only show Star Trek in an Omni theater.

You sound excited and I don't want to burst your bubble but you may want to be warned of the IMAX scam going on.

Only footage shot with a IMAX camera and run on an IMAX projector is true IMAX. Not a single frame of ST was filmed with an IMAX camera!

The scam is, they do a little magic with the print to make it run on the IMAX projector then tout it as IMAX when it is not. The drooling masses line up and pay full IMAX price for an experience which is not IMAX.

The only real benefits of seeing it in IMAX is "more comfortable seating", (I disagree with that) a better sound system than regular theaters, (true) and bragging rights as long as those you brag to aren't aware of the above facts. From an informed POV, you are being taken advantage of.

Nothing wrong with that though, as long as you know and accept it.

Last time I checked I resided in a free country so I can be negative about the movie if I like. So far from what I have seen I have limited praise for the movie. I've said on more than one occassion that of course final judgement will be reserved until after it opens. I've also said that I hope to be proved wrong about it.

And I do have something nice to say....McCoy is now hotter than Kirk so yeah that was another life.

Oh and one last thing: I'm entitled to my opinion even if it differs from yours. If my opinion is deemed as "knocking" well sorry but I shall continue to express it. Don't worry I won't be online on the weekend so you'll have a nice respite from me
