There's a New TV Spot Trailer Now

I am impressed at the amount of quality screen time Sulu seems to be getting - more then the character received in many of the original TOS movies. Granted, the fight scene may be it - but damn, who knew Sulu could kick ass like an action hero - LOL

Giving Sulu a decent amount of screentime is inconsistent with the spirit of TOS!

We also see a glimpse of the Narada attacking Earth or to be more specific, San Francisco.

They should've had this spot a couple weeks ago. The Wolverine movie's ad has been playing longer than that and it opens the week before Trek does.

maybe the strategy is just total saturation starting now... switching away from the viral stuff. i mean, i randomly saw the spot on comedy central

Maybe it's just the light but Nero seems to have red scar tissue rather than green.

If so, I'm sure it will be explained via Quantum Mechanics, the most awesome of scientific theorys.

Anyway, It's certainly a very impressive big movie teaser.

I guess this is where Scotty(whose stuck on the ice planet due to killing Admiral Archer's dog) beams Kirk away just before that ice planet monster kills him.

as long as it's not pepto, man...

I'm taking the "forget everything" as we're starting this over how WE want it ....I really really hope I'm wrong about that. I'd rather that Trek just go the grave than it be raped & exploited for every last friggin thing that it has ...of course for the almighty dollar.

For fucks sake they should of come up w/ different characters then...I don't want them running Kirk & Spock into the ground and thru the mud. :scream: "starting over w/ different history...what??? Again hello hollywood can't u come up w/ anything new and fresh...WTF aren't they getting paid enough to come up with shit????. !@#$&^*(^@# As you can see I'm just a tad bit; ever ever so slightly negative. :)

I'm glad I'm on the side of the fence where calm, open mindedness, and optimism prevail.

everything was going well until... the mind meld... the ice beast... damn it i must be... on hoth... spock... it's all coming back to me... i remember... my voice.

Looking at the still of Nero from Trekmovie, you can actually see that whatever bit Nero bit the entire side of his head, the ear just caught the corner of the bite and got taken off. Whatever bit him had a really big moulth. The ring of teeth-marks extends all the way to his eyebrow, then up around to the top of his temple.

So, who tried to eat his head?

Also, interesting music. It's new, I think.

Is it me, or in this new commercial San Francisco looks less foggy / smoggy?

Trailer #3

TV spot #3
The first one (Trailer 3) is dimmer and seems to have a slight sepia tint going on, while the second is without the tint and appears brighter. Both are from the same shot, though.

it could just be like Lost Boys where they keep doing the same ocean sunset shot over and over and over

It was the ferocious beast known as the Canon Nazi. :guffaw:

I think that is advertising lingo for the potential new fans, which can be read as: "Forget everything you thought you knew about Star Trek and considered nerdy and stupid your entire lives.... we would really appreciate it.... please?... " :)

Ummm...bingo. And, to be honest, very wise. They are fighting against a negative opinion of the classic "DORKY" Trekfan, which I am sure none of us would be remotely associated with (AHEM!!)

yeah, geez, you saw Leno riff on the new cologne with the blow-up doll. trek's an easy target. it's a cliche that trek fans are nerds.

Did you ever see CONAN's thing when he sent his talking dog to that ATTACK OF THE CLONES where those STAR WARS fans were waiting to go into the theatre..THAT is us folks. NOTHING wrong with that. But this TREK movie, if it is to be big, must aim beyond our HARCORE members, who I love dearly.

I just hope no fans are on JURY DUTY wearing their STARFLEET uniform when that movie comes out...oh brother!!

Well said. I'm fed up already with all those remakes of old tv shows. I would have preferred a post Nemesis show/movie, and for a brief moment I had hope that the new movie would have a sequel which continues in the 24th century. But since all the actors have signed a three movie contract, that's out of the question unless they use time travel as plot device yet again.

Seems like we're going to be stuck in the 23rd century for quite some time ...
