There's a New TV Spot Trailer Now

I just saw it on the "ABC Family Channel" during The Secret Life of an American Teenager (I wasn't watching, just channel surfing -- really!).

The new Star Trek TV ad shows some new footage and comes with the tagline "Forget Everything you Know".

What kind of new footage? Please?
I was surprised by the TV spot, so I didn't record it....However, it was more of what we already saw, just "extra" ---

--- for instance, there was a scene that presumably was taking place in the "skydiving shuttle" with the skydivers all standing up holding a handle above their heads when suddenly their feet leavethe floor in unison and they are horizontal while holding the handles -- just like as if the shuttle dropped in altitude suddenly.

Beyond that, I don't remember specifics. I need to record that channel to see if it's on again.

I remembered the "Forget Everything You Know" part because I think that is very interesting if that is the message they want to convey.

I think that is advertising lingo for the potential new fans, which can be read as: "Forget everything you thought you knew about Star Trek and considered nerdy and stupid your entire lives.... we would really appreciate it.... please?... " :)

There was also what looked like a shockwave destroying a planet.

Yeah thats clearly a different planet and a different way of being destroyed, I would assume from its star going Nova. THat really indicates Vulcan is teh planet being destroyed before he proceeds to go and attack earth.

Some have thought it might by Kronos, but that clearly isn't from his ship.

We also get inside the ship, we get possible scenes of Kirk and Nimoy (or Pegg), and a few more shots of the jump, Sulu fighting, ect.

Ok I think we can safely assume now that the shot of Kirk in the dark environment is onboard Nero's ship in the finale of the movie. "James T Kirk was a great man" "The Wait is over" etc.... Kirk v Nero final showdown.

From what happens in the Countdown comic, that's DEFINATELY Romulus being destroyed.

The scene is probably sped up, I can imagine a far slower one in the actual film.

This is the first time seeing this commerical in the NYC metro area. I'm sorry but I don't particularly like the tag line "forget everything you know"....thankfully years of pot smoking is making this forget request a little easier to accomplish...but i canna do it i tell you i canna do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scream:

I think it probably occurs at that speed. One they have a lot of story to tell, one they want to keep the pace quick (one of the complaints about Trek is is slow pace, well in everything).

I love the forget everything. Its a not subtile way of telling casual viewers (who are the life blood of Trek, not us), and people who never were attracted in any way to Trek to give it a shot.

Disagree. I'm not saying it takes 5 minutes to finish... just not half a second. The effect looks sped up, take it from someone who works in computer animation.

Anyway who knows. Be interesting to see the final cut.
