It was put back in for the final two seasons, so that argument doesn't really work anymore.

I think the mods are fudging the numbers.
Probably because he is not the most popular character on the show. Trip or T'Pol would get more votes than Archer and they were only captains in his absence.

Yes, it is indeed very interesting... especially given the fact that the Voyager forum is less active than the DS9 and TOS forums by quite a bit. And yet somehow Janeway manages to win the last poll handily and had been ahead in this poll before the DS9 fans were made aware.
Sure makes you wonder about those claims that these polls have been getting posted on Voyager message boards elsewhere...

As I said in the that previous thread....it was an anomaly. Janeway had NEVER previously come in first. That's why most people were shocked by those results. It did not match any previous poll. Its perfectly reasonable for Kirk, Picard or Sisko to duke it out for the top 3 spots. Janeway is never really in the competition. The only thing that would raise more eyebrows than a Janeway win, would be an Archer win.
Maybe some people who wouldn't normally are voting for her as a posthumous gesture?

And, regarding the Archer thing, I think that the popularity of the captain and the popularity of the show sort of go hand-in-hand. A larger-than-representative proportion of Trek fans on this board are DS9. Therefore The Sisko wins. But TNG and TOS are massively popular, so they're always up there. Voyager has a bit of fall-off (certainly, I'd say there are fewer posters on the VOY boards than on the DS9), and ENT wasn't popular at all; I bet if you did a poll somewhere, you could find a big percentage of people on this board either didn't watch ENT at all or didn't watch it all the way through.
Therefore, unless there's a poll massively promoted among the ENT boards (or perhaps only on the ENT board), Archer's not going to have a chance at winning.
And, I hate to say this: I'm not much of a Janeway fan, (although I can completely get why Janeway fans are upset Janeway was killed,) but I'd never, ever vote for Janeway as a "posthumous gesture" in the poll. Why? Because then I know if Janeway won said poll, the fact would show up later on another board with someone saying "You MUST bring Janeway back because she's been voted the best captain EVER!" and, quite frankly, I'm kind of tired of the dead-Janeway debate. As far as TrekLit is concerned, she's dead, Jim.

Wow, this must be like the most serious Favorite Captain thread I have ever seen on here.
If I remember correctly (and I usually do) Sisko was originally in the lead in that poll with Picard and Kirk close behind, but then all the Voyager fans registered after it was posted on another board and Janeway took the lead. You want to know why Sisko is winning this poll? Because somebody posted a thread about it in the DS9 forum with a link to this thread and after that Sisko slowly overtook Janeway. I think it is petty and utterly silly that people have gone to such lengths in order to win an internet poll which pops up at least 5 times a year, but weren't you one of the people who actually joined this board in order to vote for Janeway in that last poll? If so then you have no right to judge.

I agree that if there's been cheating, or at least violation of the spirit of the rules, for a internet poll that ultimately amounts to nothing anyway, that's ridiculous and rather childish. I'm not pointing fingers or placing blame at anyone's doorstep because I'm sure there's plenty to go around, I'm just saying. Geez.

Oh, I know there are, and I wasn't trying to imply that that was all of her votes. I was just thinking that it might be pushing her numbers a little higher than they normally would be.
At least I made that thread on this message board in an appeal to currently active members of this board.
