Perhaps Captain Pike uses the phrase as an in-universe insider joke, referring to some kind of Starfleet advertising campaign (I remember some World War II-era armed forces posters challenging everybody to 'ENLIST!')?

That's EXACTLY the tone and impression I think they were going for (which may explain why I don't like it.)

How long till we see "uncle Fed wants YOU" posters with Greenwood pointing his finger?

Give the Blue Nacelle Research Team about 1/2 hour... I'm sure you will see it there. They do all the cool stuff.

Though, it's a bitch having to replace them everytime the gate opens and vaporizes them.
