New Trailer OFFICIALLY Online - HD

But we've pretty much all agreed on the Mayflower being that saucer under the Enterprise in that one shot now, not the U.S.S. Rob Lowe, right? ;)

Think that Flower has kinda been shown to be more likely LOWELL...

Red Sox fans probably think it's the USS Mike Lowell.

I think it's Mayflower.

Hey now, that man deserves his own damn ship. The thought had crossed my mind.

I agree. Mayflower seems like the best fit.

I just watched the French one (easily found on youtube for anyone who cares to). I'm not a fan of dubbed films, but it seems they've done a decent job (the line Kirk utters before taking "the seat" actually works a bit better, imo, that the original--instead of "yeah we do", it translates as "we have what we need"--though it would not work nearly as well in its literal English form). I watched the German one too and, in all three, what sells the film is, in large part, the music. At the very least, in the German and French versions, the voices are of the proper tonal quality (I have scary memories of seeing a French-dubbed Dirty Harry film over 25 years ago where Harry has a high, squeaky voice--not a pleasant experience).

Interesting you should comment about that. I've also had the experience of watching films dubbed into other languages and thinking this or that voice was just wrong -- the Mexican-Spanish dub of Jaws, for example -- and what I noticed watching the German version of the trailer linked above is that having Pike voiced by someone who clearly wasn't using Bruce Greenwood's voice seemed to give it a whole different feel.

My god, all those trailers truly remind me why I don't like dubbed movies...

I don't like them either (well English and American movies - that's the only foreign language I understand)...

In 'The Core' where Greenwood plays a similar role as he does in Star Trek, there is the scene where the Virgil dives into the sea... Dr. Zimsky explains that 'this spot is perfect, because the Earth's crust is thinnest here. But the downside...' the ships is shaken by a seaquake at that moment '... is seaquakes.'
In the German version he says 'Untergrund' (for 'downside') instead of 'Nachteil'. This is such a blatant error, a complete mistranslation... but since there is not a single word of Klingon in the German version of TSFS...

Ugh, right off the bat this imposter says "why are you talking to me man"....MAN...MAN??? WTF happened to mister? LOL

I just have a baaaaad feeling that this movie has plenty of eye candy and blow em up bullshit but as usual from Hollywood it will lack any thoughtful drama. Hoping I'm wrong but being realistic here.
