Lonemagpie, click the "Surprise Me!" link and randon pages will show up. It's unpredictable; you might get the same pages over again but the main story can be pieced together. You can also type words and names into the Search box and a drop down list will appear with the reference sentences.

Doesn't work for many types of accounts (outside the US?)

Edit: and... the search function works fine and does indeed allow you to read the end of the book.... a quick skim suggests that...

Captain Afsarah Eden is leading a fleet of ships into the Delta Q

Lovely. How long is THAT gonna take? Hasn't this crew been through enough already (assuming there's any of the originals left, of course)?

I can't be arsed to do much more of a skim but they are
going as part of a fleet it seems - slipstream drive? someone will check and find out. OK, I checked, slipstream drives.

I did catch the mention...
of the slipstream drive. But we all know what happened the last time Voyager tried THAT. Have they worked the kinks out? How much time does it save? Can they come back home whenever they want to, or are they going to be stuck in the damn DQ again? It just doesn't seem fair - after all they went through trying to get home, now they gotta go BACK again? Bummer. :(

Okay, spoliers abound...

Following the destruction of the Borg in the Destiny trilogy, Voyager leads a fleet of nine Federation starships on a three-year mission into the Delta Quadrant. The ships have been upgraded with slipstream drive. Among them are science, medical, and exploratory vessels. The fleet commander is Admiral Willem Batiste. Voyager is the flagship and its new CO is Captain Afsarah Eden, the former wife of Admiral Batiste. Paris, Kim, Vorik, the Doctor, and Seven accompany the mission. B'Elanna and her daughter join them as well. And contrary to rumors, Chakotay is not dead.

Ah, I see.
So is that 'three years' the total length of the mission, then? I assume this 'slipstream drive' means that they can get from Alpha to Delta Quadrants relatively quickly. So they're not STRANDED in the DQ like they were before? And the thing about slipstream causing the ship to, well, crash and kill everyone, that's been taken care of as well? ;)

If I were in that crew's shoes, I'd stay the hell away from that place as much as I could. I would have thought they'd had enough of being out there. :p I'd have transferred off the ship as soon as I found out where they would be going!

I answered "No way," but my real feelings would be something like "Ask me again in 5 years."

It really depends on how the Voyager series progresses without her. Once we get past all the drama of her death, then maybe a few years later in "story time" she can reappear, much to the consternation of everyone who just got over her.

Could be fun!

^Yeah, I was a little miffed that there were two options for "Bring Her Back", and only one for keeping her dead. I might have taken something similar to the "5-year" option, had it been available.

I'm also rather disappointed to see that the poll did not include an option to only bring back Janeway's Brain!!!!.

Ahem. Sorry.

i guess i would vote for "i don't care as long as the stories are good" but that wasn't an option, maybe because the person who created the poll is one of the people who voted for what i call the "i don't care about the story" option.

Just which part of the "Yes, as long as it makes sense for the story" option was beyond your comprehension?

that's different. yours says "I'd like her back", ronny's says "I don't care if she's back or not".

if you've read Destiny, you'd know about Slipstream drive. if not

They've got it working. Aventine uses it.

Yeah I was just about to say this:

Aventine and the entire Vesta class have them. The one problem seems to be that they are not terribly accurate, but not in a crash and die way. When Aventine used its slipstream for the first time, they ended up short of their target and had to cover the relative short distance with regular ol' warp drive.

So you think that a five year wait is good enough for a fandom that has only had four subpar books in the last five years, while you all get to read what you want. That just shows how much respect you are willing to give the other guys.

We want Janeway back alive, we want books about Voyager's crew because the Voyager fandom doesn't care about the ship, we care about the characters. Five years is totally unacceptable, just as it is totally unacceptable that Voyager characters are used as minor characters in other books, or are used as cannon fodder. (and just to keep things straight - I do represent other people)

And to think I vote for the Picard candidate in the recent elections. Wow, I've seen it all now.. have you got a little virtual office?

We want Janeway back alive,

Oh, I've tried not to get tired of this, but...

I want my gran, my mum, my first love, my three dogs and two of my cats back alive, but that ain't happening either.

Sometimes you just have to get over it and move on. If that means not buying the books, then don't buy them, but at least stop wasting your time yapping about it when you could have been busy writing fanfic for each other, or indeed writing pitches to Pocket or IDW
