Losing Weight/Staying in Shape

Everyday I see different type of losing weight plans on television, like taking pills, arobic exercises, and exercise equipments (Bo-flex, anyone? :) ) And have always wondered how people really stayed in shape. I for one, just try and eat right (which doesn't always happen) and exercise on my treadmill or for an occasional walk.

I guess my main question is-- has anyone here really tried any of those "diet" pills? I have always wondered if they really work. I've been lucky and not really been overweight, but I could be a few pounds lighter! :)

I'm extremely unfit and mildly overweight so i'd be interested also in if these so called diet pills actually do anything.

Those pills and potions seem like get thin quick gimmicks for the most part.

If you eat sensibly, drink a lot of water, and get regular exercise, you will probably get into decent shape fairly quickly.

I go to the gym for a few hours a day, walk a lot, and eat right and that seems to work.

You're not going to lose weight by taking a magic pill sold on TV at 3am and sitting on your couch.

Most diet pills are either extreme diuretics, so they just make you lose excess water weight, or they are appetite suppressants and make you not hungry.

Either way, they're not particularly good for you.

I [try to] eat right as much as possible. For me it's more that I don't eat enough because I simply don't have time. I need to work less.

I also do lots of weight-lifting. I go to the gym about 4-5 times a week.

I tried diet pills a few months ago. They didn't seem to do much at all.

Almost two years ago, though, I lost around 40 lbs on the 3-day diet combined with walking 3-5 miles a day. Kept it off, too.

Snake oil! As others have said, eating right and consistent exercise of some form will do you the most favors over time. Personally, I have a terrible time eating right while getting a good daily dose of exercise is not a problem. That's just my strength and my weakness. But I keep trying (although, dammit, those donuts are just so tasty).

I weighed myself this afternoon and found out I was a few pounds lighter than I want to be so ate a double helping of mint choc chip ice cream this evening. My stomach is not happy with the decision... :vulcan:

You don't need any pills if you have regular health (not actualy medical problems). Jsut got to watch what you eat and exercise.

I have lost over 30 pounds these pass five+ months from simply keeping my total Fat and Sugar daily intake to 50 grams or less, and doing 7 to 10 miles each day, with 2 to 3 miles spent running. If you are health enough, run four or files miles five days a week (running it will only take you about an hour or so), what what you eat, and you'll see those pounds drop off in a couple months. The first initial pounds will be water weight.

My weight is a bit low for my height so I need to bulk up a bit.

Over the last 9 months or so, I've lost about 20 lbs. I am not happy about it.

I've lost seventy pounds and am now working on getting some muscle and good abs for the last month or so. I've made some good progress and will soon need to buy new cloths (which sucks because clothes cost money!) I'm not trying to be a beast or anything but I want to look good shape wise. Here's what I do:

-Eat less. Avoid fast foods.
-Jog twenty to twenty-five minutes a day. Walk an additional ten or so.
-Ab exercises (I have a number of them)
-Push ups. I find the push ups are actually a lot better than free weights which I used to do. There are a few different types of push ups that help sculpt you in various ways.

You need a lot of will power, no doubt about it.
