My question is...does this guy *really* make models of these ships or is it just a scam? 'Cause if he does, they'd be really cool...if he had gone through the right channels to get designs/made his own.

I suspect that for most of the ships, a model's never been made. However, once someone orders a ship, they photograph it and add it to the eBay store. So, although a lot of my designs are in the store, none of them have actually been turned into models.

Well guys... Apparently, something happened, although I don't know if it was eBay themselves or that this is his strategy. If you hit this link and look at the URL, you'll notice that it's the one of my Hayden. However... Now it's a Coruscant air taxi! He has replaced several more images and objects with other stuff...

Nothing's going to happen. I posted a complaint about "RedSox14" (I think that was his name) for making t-shirts of stuff off my schematics site and elsewhere (mostly Battlestar and Trek stuff). eBay basically said that, unless I can prove that I own the rights to the intellectual property (which of course I don't), they can do nothing. Their bottom line is too good on stuff like this. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but I have first-hand experience with this and unless you're an employee of Paramount, Universal, or one of the other big production houses, you're S.O.L.

Let's say you do a schematic or some new ship design and take it to Paramount and try to sell it to them, and it says 'Star Trek' and 'Photon Torpedo Tubes here ->" all over it, it is STILL YOUR PROPERTY.

Whether or not Paramount sues you for sticking it on your website is their business. IT IS STILL YOUR PROPERTY. No one else can use it other than you. Not even Paramount.

You unfortunately won't get any response from eBay unless/until you get a lawyer to send them a letter, but once you do, they will respond.

You have the original files on your computer that are dated before anyone elses, this is proof enough that IT IS YOUR PROPERTY. You don't even need these unless/until someone challenges you in court.

Find a cheap storefront lawyer, pay him $50 to sign a letter to eBAy telling them to desist. If you don't want to pay $50 then it's not worth it to you to protect your property, once enough people steal it and you do nothing to protect it, it will end up public domain anyway then.

I agree. As a point of law, and not being a lawyer myself, would I be right in assuming this is precisely the reason they even could sue you? Because your property now infringes on their property? If it wasn't actually your property, you wouldn't be infringing upon theirs, I mean.

It would appear he has taken down the evidence of image theft? I have had a browse though and i've seen some ships in his list which i've never seen before that look pretty awesome. I like this one in particular, I wonder where he got it from.
