So what are you reading now?

Not coincidentally, I'm also reading Three Day Road. I've had to put it aside for a time, though, as I have some homework to do--namely, I've got several Star trek novels to read in preparation for a new project.
All hands, brace for impact!

Doorstop on collision course!

Are we allowed to know anything yet?

Currently reading:

The Big Sky (with my Grandfather...he loves westerns)

Aftermath.....(pretty good!!!)

I was on a fast pace this year, blasting through a lot of books when I suddenly hit the brick wall that is Chainmail, the one and only book in the Challenger "series", it's also the 2nd book in the Gateway series and I'm trying to finish that off. I vaguely remember someone writing that it was basically a sci-fi book masquerading as a Star Trek book and on that point I totally agree.

Take away a couple throw away lines referencing Kirk and Scotty, replace a handful of references to Starfleet with another name and remove Star Trek from the cover and you got a straigh sci-fi book. And what I'm not even finding that interesting.

I'm reading both The 34th Rule and The Fall of Terok Nor alongside reading through the complete works of Robert Rankin.

Now that I am finished with Over a Torrent Sea, I am re reading the Mirror Universe books. That should last me till Full Circle comes out..eagerly anticipating it!

Finished Crossroad which was quite good, now moving on to another TOS numbered novel which has been on my shelf without apparently ever being read - Faces of Fire.

TOS: The Rift. I'm on a PAD kick after reading Captain's Table: Once Burned and remembering how good the dude is, and I haven't read this one in so long that I don't remember it at all. Just finished the Pike section; the detail about the computer's voice is cute.

That one was good but I actually like the MJF Pike book Legacy, which came out the previous month, a little bit better.

I haven't been impressed with the MJF books I've read so far (admittedly few: Death In Winter & contributions to Day Of Honor & Captain's Table).

I think I liked Death In Winter more than most folks, haven't read the other two you mentioned yet. I pretty much like PAD more than MJF, it's just that Legacy is probably my 2nd favorite MJF book, after Reunion, and The Rift, although a fun read, was not my favorite PAD book. Just how the curves intersect...

Finished The Deathless in the interim.

Now I'm reading the CoE: Wounds trade paperback.

Somebody in my little town doesn't like Trek books by guys called David - I just picked up mint, unread copies of Destiny, Vanguard and Crucible for 50p a throw in the local charity shops.

The only other Trek book in any of them is a battered old copy of New Earth book 1 that's been in the Age Concern shop for months.

For once I'm actually glad I haven't done a full-length Trek novel!

After I finish the 6th Captain's Table book (also a Pike story), I'm going to read Reunion and The Valiant (collected in Pantheon), so I'll let you know if I agree :)

The Rift is quite good, particularly the interaction between the Andorian and Tellarite.

I went way retro. I just finished "Covenant of the Crown" today. Wasn't half bad for a pre-numbered numbered book. Kinda liked the Bones characterization.

Requiem is terrific and Kahless is okay IMO. The collaborations Doomsday World and Wrath of the Profits are good.

I liked Death in Winter, but I tend to be in the minority on most opinions on Trek books...

I just finished Myriad Universe: Chimes At Midnight. Now I'm reading the second last book of Richard Woodman's Nathaniel Drinkwater series Shadow of the Eagle. Great nautical fiction.
