New Trailer OFFICIALLY Online - HD

In a word this trailer was

AWESOME!!!!!!!

Also in the trailer the new command chair looks kind of like a throne in the shot of Kirk sitting in it.

Oh and Nero's voice when he says his James T Kirk was a great man line kind of sounds weird to me like he's mocking someone with how he says it.

WOW! I was excited before but now its at a whole other level! This movie looks like it is going to be epic! I loved the music and that line about James T Kirk being a great man in another life was perfect! Anyways May 8th cant come soon enough for me!!

I bet when he says the "another life" line, he is mocking Kirk. I wouldn't be surprised if they are locked in their arch nemesis death struggle at the end of the movie.

That trailer is awesome. I find it my Trek fan duty to spread this far and wide. Though a few of my non-trek fan friends have already contacted me. :)

Does anyone know where the music is from? Is that actually from Trek XI or from something else? It fit the trailer perfect!

What a nice way to start the weekend. Unfortunately now I'll be pole-vaulting around the office for a good portion of the morning. That score is haunting.

Now to analyze it to death to shake this giddy feeling. Can't be happy for too long, you know.

I think part of my prob with the trailer is the intercutting of Ent battle stuff Kelvin battle stuff ... mainly cuz the Kelvin stuff looks very solid in a GQ+ way, whereas the ENT stuff looks CG (that shot under E as it approaches the rom organiship looks like a SoSF calendar image.)

One CG-model represents an old, used ship - the Kelvin.
The other CG-model represents the sparkling new pride of the fleet - the Enterprise.

Neither one looks more or less CG than the other.

Wonder if this is one of those things like TPM, where they started with a miniature shot to reacquaint the audience, then depart drastically (like the past [KELVIN] is good miniature work, the future is CG?)
[]
TPM used miniatures throughout the film: the Radiant, the the Trade Federation's ships, the Naboo space-crafts (royal ship and fighters), the pod-race-arena...
[/]

Yeah, but Knoll & co told me it was a very conscious decision to open with the ship and station miniatures to reinforce the old look of SW/ILM spacepics. The Rebel Mac guys did a ton of stuff on TPM, basing their look on 'mocon' even to the point of setting the sun in virtual space 30ft away to match model shots.

As for the other graph ... the KELVIN looks PHYSICAL and present, I can't pay a higher complement, whether it was done with miniatures or CG. I can say it isn't lit quite the way I would, but it looks convincing to me. The other shot I mention of the E does not.

Really impressive, and I'm surprised to say how excited I am to see Eric Bana in this role. Can't wait.

I love the music and all my fears about Quinto as Spock have completely subsided. As for my opinion of Urban's McCoy, that just keeps getting better and better. I'm still iffy about Pine but then that goes hand-in-hand with his role (Kirk the green cadet has to prove himself to Starfleet, Pine the relatively unknown actor has to prove himself to the audience). The effects look brilliant and Nero's "fire everything!" shows how much depth Bana is putting into his character.

Literally, this made tears well up in my eyes. Especially the part when Kirk takes command. If I wasn't at work, I would've cried like a baby. :alienblush: Awesome. Very moving. I really can't put it into words. I want to just loop it on my computer screen. Why do I have to be at work right now?! :scream:

May seems way too far away.

So, got it uploaded for those who want a different format. Here at 720P, enter the letters to download. Sorry it took so long, fell asleep as it was uploading, actually.

Actually, thank you. I didn't have QuickTime Pro and I was trying to use VLC to download it from the Apple site, but I think there are extra commands for when QT plays it because when I downloaded everything it was cut off and jerky, and I wasn't able to get it to download properly.

Looks great!

Move over Iron Man... my niece and nephews (ages 10, 7, 4) are going to explode when they see this movie! If we have to lose a few 40 year old fanboys along the way... so be it.

I just hope my daughter will be old enough to see the sequel at the theater.

That's the real trick, isn't it? Can this movie pull in the younger and the much older? It's that "Pirates of the Caribbean factor" that can sometimes happen if the tone and characters are just right.

You're welcome, and if you want the original, you can use iTunes, they have all the trailers for download there. :)

Stupid fucking trailer gave me chills. Can't remember the last time that happened with something Trek-related.

I just watched it and actually saw a glimer of hope in this trailer. Nero says that, "James T. Kirk was a great man, but that was another life."

I loved that moment too.

Actually... I loved everything about this trailer. It focused on Kirk but it showed a lot more on the growth 'the' moment he takes over...

The trailers have been epic so far, the music and the editing of this one was wonderful.

Wow that was great. My only complaint is the music. Hans Zimmer should not be allowed within 100ft of anything Star Trek. If that wasn't from a Zimmer sound track, it sure sounded like his work.
