I posted the picture earlier for this, but now I'm finished with this poster series... I've been moving forward with my Baybayin artwork, and have finally made a line of posters to sell. Baybayin is an ancient writing system used by pre-colonial Filipinos, and is the basis of my work at
The Bathala Project.
Anyways, I made a lil mini-doc that shows me making the posters.

The word being written is "Mahal" which is the Tagalog word for both "Love" and "Expensive". I designed the characters such that they would fit within the confines of a heart shape, and is accented by a brushed border color. Only 20 made, no two are alike. Each color has a meaning, which is written on a card that comes with every poster. For example...
Yellow is usually associated with the color of friendship. Red for love. If you mix yellow and red together, you get orange. With the color significance in mind, I saw the mixed color of orange as that one friendship that a guy and a girl (or whatever the sexual preference may be) that constantly dances on that tight wire between friend and more-than-a-friend. But as the friendship grows outward, mixing friendship and love, one side of the coin eventually has to land right side up. The red accent finally defines the shape that has taken place; love
