Painting

Well I tried a larger picture of a black lab. I am not crazy about the head size (I'll have to work on that a lot more) but I had to finish it as those eyes kept begging me to.

The head looks fine and the eyes are wonderful-- if there's a weak link, it's the size and shape of the binky, but even that's reach-- and the color scheme is really nice.

I still say it's a really small head. Maybe he's going through his ugly teenage stage. I always feel kinda sorry for them, they just look so weird.

Oh I've been a painting since then. I just figured no one else cared.

Well here just for the grape:

I actually got myself an easel, so I've been having fun messing with gravity. I'm thinking of opening my own etsy shop. I even got a few commisions so far.

Those last two landscape paintings are incredible, blab. :bolian: Great use of texture in the sky and the land.

When I said "bad," I meant my pun, not your paintings. :D

Well here just for the grape:
Those are fantastic; the first one is somewhat reminiscent of "Wheatfield With Crows." I hope you're going to put all this up on DA. :bolian:

A few days ago I took a cool picture of a cardinal on the top of a tree and I wanted to recreate that in paint:

Wow. I love the fractal intricacy of the branches, and the bright red of the bird against the pale blue-white of the sky. :)

Unfinished samples of a first run of my Mahal-Heart posters...
Very nice, and interesting. It's funny that the word for expensive is the same as the word for love. Human psychology is universal-- my grandmother used to refer to anything expensive as "dear." :D

This is my favorite of you work yet, blab. It's stunning in it's simplicity, and exactly the kind of thing I'd hang on my wall.

Thanks tsq. After finishing it and showing it to my husband he looks at me and says "You should have made the bird bigger." Sometimes they just don't get it.

Well if anyone wants to buy some of my paintings I finally bit the bullet and opened my own shop.

A few proportions slightly off here and there, but an excellent likeness nonetheless.

Yeah, I had trouble with the hands in particular. Eventually I said "screw it!" and gave up.

^^ It's cool. It looks like an old TV Guide cover when they used to frequently use caricatures.

You're selling the originals? I hope you're scanning them and will put them up on DA. But good luck. :bolian:

Nice work in here.

Hands and noses, they come with raw practice. I used to do a lot of fantasy character drawing. For a while, I got to actually liking hands and noses. Now I'm rusty, as its been a decade or so.
