Why do they need to SEE what's up for nomination? It's better to hear people talk for minutes on end about the performer!

The nominees have been known for some time; if people are interested, they can look into it.

You shouldn't have to see every movie in theaters or research the noms. yourself. They awards show -GASP- should show us CLIPS OF THE THINGS BEING AWARDED!

Oh, sure, they'll show us a partial clip of the movie with an overlay of the script, or countless shots of costumes and CGI, but showing us a minute of an actor's performance is just too far?
