I found it amusing that PixelMagic had designed a very similar logo more than a year ago (I'm quite sure he posted it here, too, at some point) and further that Anthony pointed to a fan-made trailer of his from even earlier with strikingly similar logo.

I prefer it italicized, but there's nothing wrong with it. It still uses the classic font, after all!

TMP really radicalized the original logo, giving letters sharper and more "violent" edges and designs. This is nothing in comparison to the movie redesigns of the TREK logo in the early years of the film franchise.
