Oh, that's kind of a shame. It would've been nice to see a continuation of XME, even an implicit one. And since this is from some of the same people (mainly producer/director Boyd Kirkland) and has a similar look, it's hard to separate them in my mind. Not to mention that it feels like a continuation of something pre-existing, since the X-Men are a well-established team at the start of the show. It's odd that they'd do it in a way that almost seems to be leading us on to think it's a sequel series if they intended to make an explicit break. I'd rather they'd made it more distinct from the get-go.
No, it doesn't work. A bunch of characters are far different. In later episodes, for example,they meet Mystique for the first time, and Logan has never heard of Weapon X.
