Thank you for posting it. We were hoping that it was an elaborate joke by Smeos. Based on contact with his roomate, his FB page, and the obituary, we're confident that it is true.

Aww, dammit. Smeos (John) and I didn't know each other well, but we had a few conversations here and on other forums. He had some encouraging words to say about some of my lame attempts at fanfic. I didn't even realize he was a couple years younger than me. Damn. I'll be praying for his family - I know exactly what they're going through. :-(

This is terrible, tragic news. I wish there was some way I could express my feelings in anything but a platitude, but I can't. All I can think about is that death is absurd -- especially in cases like this. I wish all the best for his family and those who were close to him.
