The TrekBBS "I remember when..."

I remember when I used to post about Trek in earnest, poetic, glowing terms... about how Star Trek brought joy and fantastic escapism to my life... I used to wax lyrical about how it had helped hone my imagination... allowed me to take pleasure in a Utopian future in which poverty and disease had been eliminated... not to mention the idea of being on board a ship, able go to warp at a moments notice, was the most pleasurable idea to imagine! It was an entire world to get lost in... filled with heroic individuals, concerned only with altruism, mutual learning and teaching, and the greater good.

Not a bad message for a kid to grow up with.

Star Trek used to be my solace from the madding crowd.

Now, I have become a parody of my first life on TrekBBS. :D

I remember back when LittleRedhead, wuz, and I used to spam... I mean foodfight... endlessly in the Captain's Lounge. We were just noobs having lots of silly and creative fun. Little did I know how surrounded by greatness I was ;)

I remember the Captain's Lounge and the Flaptain's Lounge... that was a great crowd I was with then.

^ Still one of the best puns AND photoshopped images I've ever seen.

It is.

I thought about making one with Fat Bastard from Austin Powers with the caption "Oh, the huge man-titties", but didn't want posters to lose their lunches. :p

I remember when posters could disagree without using personal insults and attacks. It even seemed like they respected one another. I miss those days. :(

I remember when someone broke in to JKTim's apartment and stole a bunch of movies, video games, and his frozen pizzas.

Ah, I remember that too!

And they stole his copy of Super Mario Kart, which had records accumulated that he'd sent in to Nintendo Power or something.

Thank you MLK, but that dream just ain't gonna happen. :D

Just trying to keep hope alive. :D

Between the USC Cheerleaders bringing me breakfast in bed and this one, one of them has to come to fruition sooner or later, no?

I remember when William Shatner posted here to promote his website and everyone lost their shit.
