why so little blue uniforms??

The only excuse for continuing the catsuit past season 5 was maintaining the hard-ons of the teenage male audience.

LOL.... but that is also a bit that way===>.... i have always liked 7 of 9 because of her individuality and how she is constantly trying to gain her humanity.....

ya i would agree that there is no plausible excuse for not having 7 in a blue uniform.... maybe it was the charaters choise... you know how 7 is all for being efficient... the catsuit could be just that... or the attention of the "teenage males" so to speak....

ya... i have a hard time spelling words that i dont use every day or see on a daily basis... or it could also just be my typing inexperience.....

bit depressing really....

Harry Kim was at Ops and he wore gold as well so indeed Ops would appear to be part of Engineering, which would make sense.

The whole idea of gold being engineering is way off base. It was the color of "ship operations",..which of course engineering would be a part of. :vulcan:

No engineer with any respect would lower himself (or herself) to being a member of the Ops Department. :p

We work for a living.

FWIW, I still don't like the yellow/gold/mustard uniforms. On anyone. But I think it looks even worse on Data with his makeup. I think Data looked his best those few times he was in the red command uniform. And I can't imagine the blue would have looked bad. I know the red/yellow/blue thing was in keeping with the colors of TOS (albeit switching departments), but I really wish they'd found something better than the yellow...

Agreed, it would have been cool to see Data in red in Nemesis since he was going to be first officer anyway.

From a production standpoint, I think I remember hearing that the blue uniforms were difficult to maintain. The color tended to fade after repeated washing.

i guess it would depend on what you mean by "washing"

i think that they needed to be dry cleaned or something like that....

but then again, you have different amounts of blue (tng vs ds9 vs voy)

Didn't Troi wear blue once they had her start wearing a uniform? And she was both bridge and science, yes?

She also wore blue in Encounter at Farpoint, but didn't wear a proper uniform until Jellico made her in Chain of Command.

Another point of mention is that the blue went from being rather green in early TNG, to sometimes being a shade of blue in later TNG, and back to a greenish shade in VOY and ENT.

Yeah, that was my recollection as well. I was just too lazy...I mean, overworked, of course ;-)...to look it up.

So blue uniforms were actullay a little more on the gree side like a teal color??

Wow.... That's heavy....

If there was a actually science officer, we might've had a blue wearing character. Wonder why they didn't have one in Voyager or DS9, tho?

Blue is for all the science nerds running around in the bowels of the ship, not the key players in command. Who wants to watch science guys talk for an hour.........its a joke people, ahem.

People who watch CSI. ;)

People have posted Photoshopped pictures of Data in blue and red before. They looked better than him in the gold, IMO.

Voyager...dunno as that was suppose to be a science ship. Then again, they probably did have one, but he/she wasn't a member of the senior staff (and subsequently, a main cast member).

DS9 had a science officer: Jadiza.

Data in red looked pretty good. Data in blue...eh...not so much.
