A Night to Remember

When this movie comes out, are any of you going to be the ones we see lined up the night before, braving the elements, so as to be in that first showing? I have to admit, in the past, when I was much younger, when my knees were more flexable, I did indeed wait over night for TMP and Khan....

Now? I guess I'm a second stringer. I'll be there opening day, but sitting towards the back incase my bladder can't make it through the movie...

But some of you young guppies must be willing to brave the cold/dark to see this movie, as Trek die hards, all primed to give us second stringers a review before we see it....

So...are there any BBS members who will have...A Night to Remember?

I'm too old for that shit. Maybe if my son were as hardcore as I used to be but I'm not even sure if he wants to see this movie. I'll try to see it opening weekend but I won't be standing in line for hours. Too many other things on my agenda.

The area I live in is so non-nerd, I have no need to wait in much of a line. If history is any indicator, I'll have no problem getting tickets for the first showing if I want 'em, and there will probably even be some empty seats. This was true for Star Wars Episodes I-III, the Special Editions of IV-VI, and all of the Trek movies from TUC on. (I didn't live here before that.)

If I'm wrong, I'll be pleasantly surprised, actually.

I guess is was something done back in the good old days...but then, TMP was the first Star Trek Movie, and seeing Kirk-Spock and all the others, and the refit, was the draw...more of an event I guess....

I stayed in line over night with my uncle and about 50 other 'nerds'. Though, I did wear my DAN FOUTS Chargers shirt, and not any Star Trek clothing...there were a couple of Klingons in line...but mainly a college crowd...it was fun, and definately, as you can see, A Night to Remember...

I went to more than a few all night Trek marathons, many, many years ago.

But I can't think of any film opening in the UK where you had to queue all night to get in to the first showing.

And if no one were to show up to the midnight the media would

If anything resembling uniforms are available by then I sure as hell will be.

It's not about the tickets. It's to be in line for getting a decent seat.

I never have that experience. Of course, the Majestic is one of those new "arena-seating" multiplexes with twenty good-sized theaters in it - and they book any "big" movie onto three or four of their screens for the first couple of weeks.

I live in a pretty busy urban/suburban neighborhood, but the number of people who are out and about at midnight on a Thursday is a lot less than you'd find in, oh, Adams Morgan.

Oh, I think you'll be wanting popcorn. Probably Junior Mints and Mike and Ikes, too.

Back for the opening of GEN, I stood in a line at the Pentagon City theatres (DC area mall) that stretched from one end of lower level of the mall to the other for the first evening showing. It was awful, and I vowed I'd never do anything like that again.

I'm already not the first to see XI. I won't be at the official premiere. I won't even be the first to see it in my area. As long as I see one of the showings on opening day, I'll be fine. Get the tickets in advance, then at least show up early enough to get a good seat.
