Kinda like the Playmates First Contact Enterprise. Funnily enough, that model was damn accurate to the blueprints they were given.
If only a shot of it like this had first been released, I would have liked this ship much sooner. I plan on buying at least it and the three main hand props right away. Down the line I will get the transporter room, the 10 6-inch figure case and maybe the bridge set.
This one looks pretty cool. Still not thrilled about the look of it, but it looks pretty cool as a turbo fan variant of the 1701 refit. Still probably won't buy it, though.
I'm actually pretty disappointed by the other toys. The look, the design, the execution, all seem pretty lackluster. And I'm not beyond buying toys, so it's not that. (I bought all of the mini-BSG ships.) They just seem cheap and uninspired.
On the other hand, I'm glad many of you disagree with me. I'm glad that you guys are happy.

I had to dig through friggin Star Wars toys to find two of them over about
six months of searching. Got BSG itself and Colonial One but couldn't find
any others, and BSG was actually packaged as a Star Wars ship and the stand
has the Star Wars logo on it!

I think a decent repaint would do wonders for the hand props. Get rid of that tacky chrome on the phaser and weather up the tric and comm so they have some depth, and it's golden.
You know, I just realised that this angle is very reminiscent of this shot of the Gabe Koernerprise.

Crazy, I thought we were talking about Starfleet equipment in the 23rd century. And I think it looks retarded and outdated.
If you really want to go there, the flags and stars have increased in number as the years have gone by, coinciding with the rise in commercialism which treats everyone as if they're five years old and have to be told where they are, what they're using and what they're seeing every five seconds.
Personally, Mr. Polaris, I'd suggest you just keep your comments to what's being discussed and stop with the strawman arguments. If you want to say the new communicator looks good, that's fine. It's your opinion every much as my opinion that it looks stupid is mine.

Looking at the picture of the transporter room toy, I have to admit, I kind of do like that. Especially that they have a chair for the transporter chief. Jeez, it must have sucked for Lt. Kyle or Chief O'Brien to have to stand at that thing all day.
Don't forget the most important part of it all. He'll do all of the above without even using a space suit!
I've always felt bad that the Transporter chief had to stand there pretty much when ever someone needed to beam to and from the ship.
I never knew why the set designers never gave them a chair to sit in.
What about down time when no one is beaming down or up, do they just stand there with nothing to do at all ?

I think the new design looks stupid. You like the new design.
In my opinion, the new design looks very obviously like a modern cell phone. There is little differentiation between that and what we would use today. I'd rather they have come up with something new and different than think themselves smart in making their new communicator look like a cellphone just like the old communicator eventually looked like a cellphone.
It shows the same lack of creativity as the Akiraprise.
But that's my opinion.
Why do people who dislike what they see from the new movie immediately get attacked by you? Are my opinions negatively any less valid than yours positively?
Dunno. You see an awful lot of standing stations on board naval vessels, though, including control stations on bridges and in engineering rooms. In that respect, mixing some standing stations into the sets - as they began to do with the bridges starting on TNG - makes some visual sense.
