New Enterprise Toy Revealed

This was posted in the Trek Art forum by PixelMagic, but I didn't see it here yet.

I actually like that shot. Looks pretty cool.

On the Enterprise, it appears that there is the movie era inspired striping on the secondary hull, as well as the windows for the Rec Room in the saucer.

Also, it appears that there is going to be two versions of the Communicator.
Communicator 1
Communicator 2

The E is OK, it is a bit bunched-up for my tastes but otherwise I can live with it.

I don't quite get all the elements in the transporter room, is that some kind of decon chamber in there?

I'll have to see how the communicator looks onscreen but it's hard imagining that design not looking like a toy.

I would be OK with the bridge if they got rid of those glass screens, not sure if they are practical or not but they give it an over-cluttered look.

Those engines don't look anywhere nearly large enough. But I will settle like a great compromiser and buy the ship anyhow. When any visitor comments on how small the engines look in relation to the rest of the toy, I will quickly blurt out that I accidentally broke an equal part off from both of the engines. To get their mind off of it, I might even bring out the better refreshments.

Is that a golden Starfleet Delta on the inside of the nacelle?

I really love the design of these engines. :D

I was sold on all of this stuff the moment I heard Playmates was getting the license, but good grief--that bridge playset is frakkin' huge even for 3.75-inch figures. It's cool and all, but I definitely don't have any place to display something quite that big...

If these designs are at all accurate to the movie - ship, bridge, props - then there's no cause for complaint. They all look great!

I want a communicator. And a ship. And maybe the bridge, maybe...

They were smart to go with Playmates as the licensee for all of this. Toys for real kids, not fifty-five year old kids (I'll buy 'em anyway)...

However, the new communicator....I truly hope there's not a freakin' UFP logo on the inside of the antenna grid. It looks absolutely retarded.

Yeah, 'cause it's not like the Army or Navy have a tendency to slap flags and stars and stuff on uniforms and equipment...

Those engines are better than the ones on the ST:TMP Enterprise. I'd like to see a kitbash combining the Abramsprise engines and some detailing with the saucer and engineering hull from the ST:TMP ship.

I can't remember the last time I saw a child actually playing with an action figure though I've seen lots of adults buy them. :)

The USA Today article said that the size of the Ent model was 14.5 in. I wonder if Playmates made them in scale with the AA/DST TOS line of ships or just the Narada. That would be great. At any rate they are close enough that thay will be in scale in my mind. Supposedly Playmates was inspired to increase the quality of their toys following the success of the AA/DST figures and moderate success of the ships. If you can believe what you read at trade sites. Either way that image of the ship looks much better than any previous Playmates ST ship. I'm getting a couple.

On a side note I agree with everyone else I feel much better about the new Enterprise now.

As to the seemingly different versions of the toys seen online, they could be some images of early prototypes that did not make it to production.

Is it an optical illusion, or is the captain (on the bridge set) sitting waaay up on a throne-like platform?

The Ent doesn't look bad, though some details seem to be different - like the positioning of the name/number.

The transporter room---weird but not bad.

Um, they're both the same design. There will be one communicator.

Not quite identical. One appears the the the UFP logo in the inside, while the other looks to have a mini viewscreen in the same location.

I could see them marketing the two slightly different versions just for more profit.

I'm hoping the bulkiness is simply due to this being a Playmates toy (they've always been rather chunky). I still don't like how radical the design is but this looks better than that first reveal we got back in November.
I like it. :techman:
