New Enterprise Toy Revealed

The four inch figures here look much better proportioned than the ones shown in the playsets. So I'm much happier with their look now. I love the tricorder and communicator. The phaser is a bit of a shock because of how much of it is (edit) chrome. I'm not crazy about the bridge being a few set pieces to place on a vynil matt, but they do look like nice set pieces. I hate the Narada but that may change when I see her on screen. Overall, not too shabby. There will be a shelf space at my house waiting for this junk in April. :)

I'm just glad the bridge comes with a window.

Yeah. No walls, but it comes with a window.

This is odd...those rumors that there are two different versions of the Enterprise in the film might be true. Here's another view of a Playmates Enterprise:

I think I actually like the first version better!

There's a whole gallery of new Trek stuff here.
Thanks for the link. :techman:

THat looks like they took the JJ ship and the Ent and bashed them together.

Is it an optical illusion, or is the captain (on the bridge set) sitting waaay up on a throne-like platform?

That's how I perceived Kirk when I was a kid.

Actually, I think it's a result of the entire toy bridge being flat aside from the helm/captain part. It leads to an interesting effect, but doesn't reflect the look of the actual set.

Wow the Enterprise looks even worse.

the fact that the only people commenting are gushers just shows how much the new Abrams Trek has driven away people. The new movie is being met with even more apathy.

..and yet, somehow, the advanced reviews are good, 80% of the people here have no major worries about the film according tho polls, and Paramount feels they have a summer blockbuster on their hands.

Oh, yes, people are just fleeing in droves, I tell you.

I like the new Enterprise more than I did when I saw the first photos.

The bridge? Too big and too busy. I wished they'd gone with a simpler design.

Tansporter? Very retro.. I like this.

Communicator? On the fence. I wish they'd gone with something that looked less like a toy.

Phaser? Same as above.. The TOS phasers looked cool without "looking" cool.

Tricorder? Nice blend of era's there. Pretty cool.

Action Figures? Meh.. They're action figures. They're designed for children ages 4 and up. Not adults in their 40s. I'm not going to quibble on the details of a 4" tall action figure.

Also, it appears that there is going to be two versions of the Communicator.
Communicator 1
Communicator 2

Um, they're both the same design. There will be one communicator.

Not quite identical. One appears the the the UFP logo in the inside, while the other looks to have a mini viewscreen in the same location.

I could see them marketing the two slightly different versions just for more profit.

Same design. The UFP logo is essentially a screen-saver or default image on the same display screen that features Kirk's face in other photos.

Are we reading the same thread? At least three comments on previous pages speak of how much they don't like the ship/toys.

And when has positive commentary indicated apathy?

Myself and few other sci-fi fans here at work took the pictures of the original TOS Enterprise and the new movie version around to some non and casual sci-fi fans.

Most of the non sci-fi fans couldn't tell the difference between any of the pictures and the ones that could thought the new ship looked more stylish. They were also wondering why grown men in their thirties were carrying around pictures of toys at lunch but that is besides the point.

The casual sci-fi fans split pretty even between the two. But they really didn't care much which one was used on way or the other.

This discussion is truly not going any further than these websites. Only the true nerds among us care exactly what the Enterprise looks like.

However everyone had heard about the new Star Trek movie. I can say for sure that is the first time that has happened ever at any of my workplaces.

Well, all indications are that the people who have been "driven away" are very, very small in number - less than ten percent of even the hard-core folks who post here (and if we weren't pretty hard-core we'd all be somewhere else).

Now, as for the many millions of people who have at one time or another liked "Star Trek" but never made a fetish of it...who knows, in the next few months they may even remember "Star Trek" again. That's the best thing that could happen to the Franchise now. :) :techman:

You know what's funny, that toy matches the side view that we got a few months ago that everyone thought was inaccurate. Perhaps we really are getting two Enterprises here.

It might be a slot in addition.
